I think it's got to be between Steffi, Martina and Lindsay.

Probably Steffi.

15 years is a long, long time. It encompasses many careers and during that time a lot of top players have come and gone so this is very difficult. But I'll attempt it anyway.

Firstly, let's clearly define the time period. 15 years ago was 1992 Wimbledon. Yes, that grand slam where Monica's grunting became a controversy and Steffi beat her easily in the final.

Secondly, let's work through this with a process of elimination of real contenders. The most consistent players are obviously those who won the big titles and were #1. These include: Seles, Graf, Sanchez-Vicario, Hingis, Davenport, Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Capriati, Clijsters, Henin, Mauresmo and Sharapova. Anyone else? From that big group, I'm going to eliminate the following: Seles (stabbing and out of the game for a while and also too inconsistent since she came back), Capriati (out of the game too long at periods), Mauresmo, Clijsters and Sharapova (only came to prominence lately and also not that dominant).

Thirdly, so that leaves us with Graf, Sanchez-Vicario, Hingis, Davenport, Venus Williams, Serena Williams and Henin. Now I'm going to eliminate by who was better during which period. Graf and Sanchez-Vicario competed during similar periods, Graf was more consistent. Likewise, Hingis was more consistent than Davenport and Henin, right now, is more consistent than the Williams sisters.

Fourthly, this leaves me with three players who were the most consistent during their own eras: Graf (92-97), Hingis (97-02) and Henin (02-07) roughly.

Finally, let's consider this. Graf retired in 1999 so aside from her era of consistency she only competed in two other years. Henin although, the most consistent now doesn't have a strong argument even in 2002-03 let alone in the prior years. This leaves us with the one with the strongest argument: Hingis. Not only was she clearly the most consistent in her era but she was also a factor in pre-97 (in top ten, won tournaments) and despite a retire in 2002, came back strong in the current era by returning to the tour in 2006.

So in the last 15 years, it's Martina Hingis that's the most consistent player.

In 1995 she finished at No.15. But she is the only active player who reached at least one GS final for 6 straight years :worship:

If we're talking about 15 years span I'd go with Lindsay. 14 years (1993-2006) in Top-25, 13 years (1993-2005) in Top-20, 12 years (1994-2005) in Top-12, 10 years (1994, 1996-2001, 2003-2005) in Top-10, 8 years (1997-2001, 2003-2005) in Top-5, 7 years (1997-2001, 2004-2005) in Top-3.
Since Australian Open-1994 Davenport won 3 Slams, reached 4 finals, 11 SFs and 13 QFs.

I tend to agree.....but most often than not lindsay made the quarters or better in most of the tour events during her career as well which counts towards her consistancy

Consistent? Alexandra Stevenson:

retired, Lost 1r, retired, lost 1r, retired, lost 1r ....
Though rumour has it that once -almost a decade ago - she beat a few low-ranked players to reach a QF somewhere or other....

Brie Whitehead has been remarkably consistent. Not many players have the same scoreline match after match after match..
