Something did not look right with Venus in that last game. Was it nerves? I certainly hope that that's all it was because she wasn't jumping into her serves, she was arming it and she was not moving well at all.

Anyway congrats Vee and whatever it is work it out by tomorrow, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Proud of ole Venus...she's gettin that confindence back. I still say she played better when she played Sharapova. The serve wasnt lethal like it was yesterday.. not as hard or as fast..but still faster than the remaining women left. The ground strokes are on point with the expection of a few forehand sprays. Everything else was on point. She was pissing me off the last game....I saw that unconsistent Venus trying to crack through..but she got Kuetz and those braids up outta Wimbledon...GOOD JOB! NO MERCY VENUS WILLIAMS!!

Her serve wasn't on like yesterday, but still good enough to beat any player out there. I think that if she only worked on those break points she would save herself some time. But that doesn't matter as all that matters is that she won and is the player to beat at wimbledon now!!

Now go get that title and look forward to a wonderful summer season!!

This is strange first I post in a thread the thread is gone I create a thread the thread is gone. I refresh and lo and behold the old thread is back :tape:

Amazing Venus, I knew this would not be an easy match but she sent everything Sveta threw at her back with interest. I just love this Venus and itīs why I became a fan of her and always will be win or lose. Her movement was superb, she frustrated Sveta so much  Her first serve was not as well as yesterday but it was still impressive. She got nervous when she had to serve for the match but itīs understandable. I think Venus just passed her toughest test on her side of the draw and will beat Ana or Nicole pretty easy. They donīt move as well as Sveta and have less experience. It was good to see Serena there also. Venus has a big group of family and loved ones with her that will definitely inspire her to even more greatness.

Another great performance from Venus. Kuznetsova played really well, but Venus always had a response to the shots Sveta threw at her. Looking to the future, I like her chances against either Ivanovic or Vaidisova. Assuming that Henin gets past Bartoli, Venus has the game to overcome Henin in straight sets.

Awww Kuzy! I really liked the hair, but I agree with the William Sisters you gotta take betta care of it. Somebody get her a stocking cap, or a silk wrap, so she won't have any fuzzies.

Hey All,

I told y'all Venus could still bring it. And when both sisters are at their best playing each other, and if they were to play when both all the way on - I'd wager on Planet Venus. She has been on fire these last two rounds. I can see her holding up the Venus' Dish in me mind's eye. Just think - she might not have another chance to do so.

Kuzy played very well - so good on her. I felt she'd prove out to be the more consistent Russian player. She's played a lot more tennis than Venus has - so Venus already knew - she had to bring it. Great match.

I'm still trying to watch Nicole and Ana - though too. Maybe next on NBC.

I must say Sveta had me worried there for a little while with those 6 clean winners in the 1st 2 games...but the first time she made the backhand long and shouted at herself i knew immediately she was pressing beyond her limits because, she was aware she couldn't beat a confident Venus on grass. I love Sveta though and she never gave up so....she put in a good fight against the player in the best form of the tournament. No shame in taking a loss. She could actualyl be a Wimbledon Champion of the future, she's certainly a future french Open champion.

Venus is grooved right now. Everything is clicking and that spells trouble for the other players. I'm so happy to see her healthy and playing well again. I told y'all not to let the clay court season fool you - grass turns her game around. Go get 'em Vee!!! :bounce:

I thought it was a really fun match to watch, a little nervous watching the ending though (throwing in only her second double of the match on match point number three)

Watching the match, it looked really tough for Venus. She didn't seem as relaxed as she was against Sharapova, but she was still able to wrap it up in two. Good for her..

True, she wasn't as zoned and relaxed as in the 4th round match. But I think it was because Sveta's shots were less of a perfect fit for Venus'. Kuzzie mixes things up more and so Venus had to tough more rallies out (good practice for justine if she gets there). Also, her serve wasn't as sharp. But I liked that she could count on it for most all the big points.

Expect the same in the semis, since she's favored to win.

I knew this match was pretty much over the moment Sveta started grunting early in the 1st. When she does that, you know she's overworking herself, and she can't last long that way. She did a good job of keeping the match competitive though, and Venus also started to look more fatigued later in the 2nd set. She was just too dominant though...she should definitely make her way to the finals.

I'm actually a bit glad she struggled to serve it out cause even though she was struggling she DID IT. That's huge for confidence and now she's won 10/12 sets and the last 5 straight. Can Richard fufill ANOTHER prophecy? Let's hope.
