Number one having played only 12 tournaments?
And having over a 50% win lost record for tournaments played?
i.e. 7 wins in 12 played, including one where she was injured and had to retire?
This is domination from Serena...
Venus and the rest of the tour had better step it up...

if serena takes the rest of the year off, she could almost certainly be no 1 at year's end.

no Steffi ender number 1 in 96 with 11 tournaments!

Oh... but was it under the divsor system?

they changed it at the end of 1996 and so at the start of the australian open 97 Steffi was number 1 under the new ranking with 11 tournaments!

That doesn't mean that Serena's achievement isn't amazing though!:D

And Chris Evert was #1 for a while in 1978 with about 10 or 11 events.

A #1 player winning over half her tournaments is normal, its under half that is abnormal.

Serena has done unbelievably well this year, however the real test will come next year, she will have hardly any tournamnets where she gain points and everyone will want to beat her.

Serena is really unbelieveble !!
