She is so totally dominant - absolutely demoralizing the #1 player three straight times. With her current form, she is certainly on a roll. What will it take for anyone to beat her?

sorry, the 'former' #1 player....

Just wait and you'll see, Venus will return to the top. Venus is in the process of realizing that she must play Serena just as she would any other top player. Serena has already figured it out. In about 7 weeks, there'll be another all-Williams Grand Slam final--the outcome will be different as the winner's first name will start with "V". You'll see.

I hope Serena keeps playing this well. Some people are exagerating. Venus played well, why some fans can't give credits to Serena saying that she played better?

yes but i hope it will be only to Venus at the US OPEN

Even the commentators said that Venus didn't lose the match - Serena won it. But Serena did take advantage of some of Venus's weaknesses that others players can't easily exploit. But no one should even try to dismiss the way Serena played today. It was incredible.

She's already on an 18 match winning streak.

serena played better today - granted. venus did not play badly - but she has played better. more importantly, she can get better, hopefully when they next meet at the us open finals. that's when big sis will re-establish the family pecking order!

actually, Serena's on a 19 match winning streak, Bright Red ;) but who's counting? :p

Serena's too dominate, I don't see Venus retaining the No. 1 rank this year until early spring of next year   I doubt anyone can stop Serena, she's just too good on hardcourts.

At the moment Serena is looking unbeatable.

Can't see her losing in the near future as long as she keeps this level up.

Serena is very dominant atm.

She is VERY hard to beat. Almost impossible once INTO a tournament.

She won Wimbledon without losing a SET.

Served 41 Aces and only 10 DF.

Won 81% of points on her 1st serve across the tournament.

Serena has been able to beat most other top 20 players whilst playing at about 70% of her best. If threatened she can then raise her game a further one or two levels, hitting even harder, and more consistently, and retain her accuracy.

Her on-court persona is very dominant, confident and aggressive.

So Serena has both Physical and Mental strength.

I'd place a good player's chances of beating Serena on any given day as about 20:1 against.

Yeah everyone has to cool down.

Martina, Steffi, Monica, even Arantxa had a year like this.

This is great for Serena to have this type of dominance in this day and age. It will truly make the other players push their level of play to another level.

The only scary thing is that Serena will have to defend all these points next year  and next year will also give an insight into Serena's mentality. Defending a GS is the most difficult thing to do IMO.

And as for Jen, well Jen has gotta step it up too I'm afraid. The old days of when Jen used to beat Serena are over. But I've got faith, Jen wants Slams too y'know! :)

I want a Jen vs Serena US Open final :D

I know R. DIS is a hard core Jennifer fan, but I MUST give him some credit.

While Serena has BEATEN Jennifer the last FIVE times!! GLOAT! GLOAT!

We have to keep in mind that even in those five matches, Jennifer played VERY close and was in position to WIN in several of them only to have Serena come up with a clutch shot.

So, while I love Serena, I will not dismiss Jennifer as a competitor.

I think she'll prob loose to hingis,Davenport or Venus before the end of the year.As she'll prob be beating everyone easy she might get a little complacent and loose!

Didn't venus go on 30-35 winnig match streak and then suddenly loose to lindsay in some final even though she had beaten her 3 times in row in other tournaments during that winnig streak. Every player looks unbeatable for a certain period but it always come's to an end;)

Serena is doing brilliantly now. let us celebrate her success!!! very well done indeed.

Venus has a very strong character. she will definitely come back.

A massive congratulations to Mr and Mrs Williams and the entire Williams family and team especially venus and serena's trainers who have helped them to stay injury free.

Serena will probably lose a match this year. She's been too even for too long, she has to slip some time. Probably during the build-up to the US Open. She'll be peaking for the US Open no doubt, but could be vulnerable before it, ie losses to Henin, Schnyder before French.

I figure she will lose a match before the US Open.

Well how many tournaments is she playing? 2 or 3 before then?

I may be wrong and she may go the rest of the year without dropping a match, but Even Venus circa july-nov 2000 cooled off.

You know, I dont think that Seles fan was literally asking if Serena would EVER lose again ;)

Merely speculating when that would happen, and how exactly ;)
