Venus and Serena have dominated three out of the last four Grand Slams. They seem able not only to beat the rest of the top women, but to beat them so EASILY that their opponents seem to have no real hope of winning.

When Serena can beat Amelie Mauresmo, 2 and 1. this is an amazing level of dominance.

Of course it's happened before. It seems to be the usual state for the Women's game to have a dominant player or players who can destroy all opposition on a regular basis...

*Chris Evert Dominated for five years or so

*Martina Navratilova dominated for seven years or so

*Steffi Graf dominated for five years.

*Monica Seles had two years of dominance

*Martina Hingis had Three Years.

There seems to be a pattern of the period of dominance decreasing of recent years.

So How long will Williams domination last?

* *Are they so far ahead of the rest of the WTA in speed and power that they will dominate for years?

* *Will older players like Martina and Lindsay quickly return to upset the Williams applecart?

* *Will Amelie, Justine, Kim, Daniela and other new players soon develop the skills to tame the Sisters?

* * Will Venus and Serena themselves have the will and motivation to maintain their current crushing form?

If you add up Jan1 1993 thru April 30, 1993
and August 1995 - Feb 1996, I say Seles dominated for more than just 2 years.

With that being said, I really hope they enjoy their time to shine, as do their true fans. Nothing, as it seems, lasts forever.

A big majority of a small poll think that Venus and Serena will only stay on top, dominating the tour for another 6 MONTHS!

Any reasons for this?

Venus has nothing to defend after the US Open and she plans on playing a full schedule, while Serena's defending 500+ points at the end of the year championships. Serena's 800+ points ahead of Venus and nearly 2,000 points from Jennifer. Venus on the otherhand is 900+ points ahead of the No. 3 player, Jennifer, and No. 4 player, Monica. is it'll be hard for Jennifer and Monica to gain ground on Venus because both of them are defending several hundred points this summer. Venus is defending more points than them, but Venus has shown she can defend her titles despite all odds.

after the US Open, Venus and Serena can only add more points to their totals. they will occupy the top two spots for at least 1-2 years.

I think that Venus & Serena will be the most dominant players on tour for as long as they choose to play. Players who will occasionally beat them: Justine, Kim, Monica, Martina, Lindsay, Daniela, Amelie. But, although there will be the odd loss to these players I can't see anyone developing the game to beat either or both consistently.

I don't know, but Lindsay and Martina won't end it on few days, as everyone is talking about....

I'm looking at a Venus interview from about a month ago, and in it she says that she can't see herself playing for more than another 5 years. She said Serena was the same.

I can see them dominating for at least the next five years but I don't think they'll win everything.
