Ann Jones No.2 in 1969, before computer rankings.
Virginia Wade No.2 in Novemeber 1975, after the start of computer rankings.
Sue Barker peaked at No.4 for much of 1977 and Jo Durie peaked at no.5 in early 1984.

oh thank you. how about in the 1990s?? it seems that the british ladies aren't doing well these days..

Jo Durie went up to No.35 in 1991. Sara Gomer had peaked at No.45 in 1988. Monique Javer peaked at 61 in 1991.

it looks like katie o'brien could be the first of this bunch of brits to break the top 100...poor anne K and Naomi Cavaday:sad: they dont have much of a chance

I got to meet Jo Durie at the DFS last week, got her autograph as well while she was training with Elena Baltacha!

well lets hope my friend yasmin clarke can sort it out in a couple of years and at least be top 50!
