Has anyone heard what Venus' Summer Schedule is?

I know Serena plans to play:

July 23rd - World Team Tennis Pro League

July 23rd - Bank of the West Classic

July 30th - Acura Classic

She signed up for both.

Serena is scheduled to play her World Team Tennis match on July 23rd. Her first match at the Bank of the West Classic will probably be on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'm 99% certain that if they're healthy, both sisters will play LA. They always do and it's one of their favorite stops on the tour considering how close it is to where they grew up. They have a ton of friends, family, and fans and they always get a lot of support!!

Serena & Venus have confirmed their participation in the Fed Cup Semifinals against Russia on July 14th & 15th in Stowe, Vermont.

Serena revealed this in her Pre-Match Wimbledon Interview on Saturday.

Q. Have you informed Zina Garrison, or do you intend to inform her, that you will be in Stowe, Vermont, the week after this tournament?
SERENA WILLIAMS: Yeah, I have plans of being there. It's a shame it's right after Wimbledon. You know, I definitely plan on being there, not only supporting Zina but supporting my country, playing Fed Cup. I've already planned on being there. It's just like, I have a big summer coming up.

Q. Do you know if Venus has the same attitude right now?
SERENA WILLIAMS: Yeah, I believe she does have the same attitude. Like we said, not only for Zina, but just to play Fed Cup. We'd like to see the trophy back in the United States, where it belongs.

She may "plan on playing" but it sounds doubtful that she will actually participate. If she wins Wimbledon, she will be too busy to go to Stowe.

Even if Serena wins Wimbledon I think she will still turn up & play the Fed Cup Semi's. She knows the Russian team is not a pushover and the USA team will surely need her to reach the finals and have a chance to win the Fed Cup trophy.
Serena & Venus seem to really want to win this trophy for Zina & for their country so I expect them to play all the Fed Cup ties this year. :)

Four consecutive weeks of tennis from Cincinnatti to L.A. does seem a bit much. Serena may pull out of one of them, I'd be surprised if she played for four consecutive weeks.

It isn't impossible to do though. Clijsters did it in 2005 and Davenport in 2004 and well Jankovic has been playing every tournament on the WTA Calendar since the start of the year. :)

huh?? Venus has seldom play in LA, close to never...
her summer sked has always been
BOWC Acura and New Haven...
she has only played once in LA in this millenium...

I just noticed that Venus has only played 8 matches since losing in SF in
Charleston to jankovic
thats like 6 matches in 10 weeks...
woops...
hope that shes not rusty again..!!!

i just hope that she wont rush herself and play in Stanford...
cuz tht would be really taxing on her body..

i hoping that she would go for the
Acura-LA-Toronto combination...
and thats 2 tier Is...

Venus should ensure she signs up for the two Tier 1's (San Diego & Toronto) to get build up her ranking for the U.S. Open .

Clijsters did it, but you are wrong about Lindsay and Janko. Lindsay only played 3 weeks in a row. Janko didn't play Antwerp or Paris Indoor or Budapest, so she didn't play every tournament on the calender, and to compare these players to Serena is IMO ridiculous anyway since we all know the slim number of tounaments Serena plays these days.

Ok Matt. In referring to Davenport, I was just looking at how she managed to play consecutive tournaments in a row in the summer of '04 & won them all.

I wonder how Jankovic managed to skip those three tournaments. She probably did not see them on the calendar.

Who knows? Serena may just pull off a Clijsters/ Davenport type summer schedule this year and surprise us all by turning up for all the tournaments she signed up for & winning them all. :rocker2:

Venus is the more likely one to play the Rogers Cup. Serena's schedule seems packed as it is already.

Has Venus or Serena ever played the Forest Hills tournament the week before the U.S. Open?
The Forest Hills tournament only has four rounds and looks like an easy tournament to finalize preparations for the U.S. Open and pick up a title without too much stress as at the Pilot Penn tournament.

I wouldn't count out Venus playing at Rogers Cup. She entered in 2003 and 2005, and maybe 2006, but withdrew with injury. That'd be amazing if she came to Toronto....

But I agree about Forest Hills. That tourney is not only Tier IV, but also it has only around 75K in prize money. It doesnt seem like a possiblity whatsoever.

Here's the official confirmation of what Serena said in her pre-Wimbledon interview on Saturday for those who doubted she & Venus would join the U.S. Fed Cup team in the semifinals.

Williams sisters, Raymond, King to face Russia in Fed Cup semis

June 27, 2007

STOWE, Vt. (AP) -- Serena and Venus Williams were picked Wednesday to play for the United States in the Fed Cup semifinals against Russia on July 14-15.

Doubles specialist Lisa Raymond and teenager Vania King complete the U.S. squad announced by captain Zina Garrison.

The Williams sisters, currently competing at Wimbledon, were part of the American team that beat Belgium 5-0 in the quarterfinals in April. That was Serena Williams' first Fed Cup action since 2003.

The Russian team for the matches, to be played on hard courts in Stowe, has not yet been announced.

August 13th - Rogers Cup

Serena plans to play:

July 23rd - World Team Tennis Pro League

July 23rd - Bank of the West Classic

July 30th - Acura Classic

August 6th - JP Morgan Chase Open

August 27th - U.S. Open

Last time she had this kind of schedule (2005), she never recovered all
summer and went on t skipp most of the summer events.
As a result she got to the US Open not match ready and with lack
of stamina
She ran out of gas in her loss

She does not need this nonsense Worldd Tennis.

Venus is scheduled to play San Diego and Toronto. I think it's a great schedule considering she's still be playing WTT and Fed Cup. I would like to see her at New Haven, but two Tier I's will proly do the job for her. After seeing her win Wimbledon, I just hope she stays healthy and continue to win the matches she's supposed to. No Upsets Venus!! Then her rank should be inside the top 15, hopefully around 12 or even higher if she plays well and takes one of these titles. Then when the U.S. Open roles around she'll be seeded well and afforded a nice draw. You can do it Vee. Pull out a new weave(hopefully braids), shoes (hopefully new outfit too) and a new, more confident attitude and everything will fall into step.
