I wonder what does Justine have to do to keep her no.1 ranking during Wimbledon?

wow didnt realise that! i though she was pretty safe due to maria's lack of play this year... i guess the AO final and FO semi's gave maria alot of points...

if jankovic does well and wins i wouldnt be shocked if she became the new number 1... less points to defend than maria or justine!

without wimbledon points from last year:

justine: 4007
maria: 3538

difference: 469

so even if justine loses in 1st round, maria must make at least finals to reach no.1

I don't think that's true. With last year's points off, Justine has 4009 points and Maria has 3540, according to TheBoiledEgg's thread. Maria would have to make the final to gain 700 points and surpass that 4009...so if Maria makes the final and Justine loses at or before the 4th round, she'd surpass Justine. If Maria wins it all (4540 points), Justine would have to lose before the final (4459 points for a Justine semifinal). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Jelena seems to have a mathematical but unlikely chance at #1.

For Jelena, to become n°1 she must win the title and Justine must lose before the fourth round and Sharapova must't go to the final
