Here are my contenders & floaters for Wimbledon:
(1) Henin – W- Roland Garros W-Eastbourne 2006 & 2007 F-2001 & 2006 SF-2002 & 2003 . Currently, she is playing the best tennis right now on the tour. Winning Wimby will give her a career Slam. She is trying to be the first person from the WTA to pull off the RG-Wimby double since Serena in 2002. Will Brad Gilbert not only pick her to win but do it in straight sets just like he did on ESPN last year.
(2) Mauresmo- F- Eastbourne W-2006 SF-2002,2004,2005. Skipped 2003 due to right rib muscle injury . If she could hold her nerves, she could be the first person to repeat Wimby since Serena in 2002-2003
(3) Sharapova – F-Australian Open F- Birmingham SF-Roland Garros. W-2004 SF-2005 & 2006. Will her serve be effective to overcome her lack of mobility which was exposed in RG by Ivanovic. Venus is the only person that can keep Maria from making her 9th semifinal out of the last 11 Slams(exception 2005 & 2006 RG) played since the beginning of 2005.
(4) Jankovic – W- Birmingham F- s-Hertogenbosch W-Rome W-Charleston SF-Roland Garros. Beating Sharapova in Birmingham has to give her confidence to make a deep push at Wimby this year. She leads the tour with 51 wins. Also, she has got the toughest draw to navigate through.
(5) S Williams - W-Australian Open W-Miami W-2002 & 2003 F-2004 Skipped Wimby last year due to left knee injury. She will show more will and determination to win since Justine out worked her at RG.
(6) V Williams – W-2000 ,2001, and 2005. F-2002,2003. Her forehand is the most dangerous shot at Wimby and if she hangs around the net more, she can go very deep in the draw. For her seeding to be 23, this is a good draw for Venus..
(7) Chakvetadze – W-s-Hertogenbosch. Beating Jankovic in s-Hertogenbosch could give Chaki lots of confidence when facing an upper echelon player deep in the second week.
(8) Ivanovic - W-Berlin F- Roland Garros
(9) Vaidisova – SF – Australian Open. She had a good performance at RG making to the quarterfinals coming back of wrist surgery. She can be very dangerous with her serve and attacking style. However, if her serve is off, she can be exposed just like Justine did in Eastbourne.
(10) Hantuchova – W-Indian Wells. She made the SF in s-Hertogenbosch and QF in Birmingham. Also, she is in the top 10 for the first time in a while. She may have the much needed confidence to make a deep run at Wimby but Serena and Justine is in her quarter of the draw.

Floaters -A Bondarenko,Bammer,Bartoli,Dementieva,Hingis(due to her court savvy),Kuznetsova(#1 floater due to great draw),Peer,Petrova,Safarova, and Safina

Rgarros,
Other than you not finding this thread yet, I have not heard any comments here but I have one person on TW questioning why Maria is ahead of Serena and Jankovic. Why Kuznetsova is only a floater and Vaidisova is ahead of Hantuchova. I had another person on TW asking why Jankovic is ahead of Serena.

pwayne, sorry, but i got home late last night and just passed out.

interesting list. i'm glad you have masha so high.

but what i really want to see from you are your predictions, quarterfinals onwards. it is not obvious from your thread who you think will win. i think, once you lay that down, perhaps in a new thread, more people will respond.

as for me, like i told you, i'm picking a masha - justine final, and you know who i like to win that.

funny but no, we're not the same person. we know each other for a long time from tennis world. hopefully that should clear it up.

To All,
We are not the same person. We knew each other from another website (Tennis World) and on some threads, they addressed people just like we addressed each other here. Sorry about the confusion:)
