If you really wanted to know the answer to this question.
You would go look up past winners of Eastbourne and those of Wimbledon and voilà.

Oh dear... now I understand...

The winner of Eastbourne since 1991 did not win the Wimbledon the same year...

well considering that Wimby champ didnt always play Eastbourne, i think it is hard to talk about a curse.

Novotna won both in 1998 - but yes she is the only one since Navratilova in 1990 to win both.

Well considering the Williams sisters, Sharapova, Davenport etc. dont even regularly play this tournament, this "curse" doesnt have much a basis in truth.

Navratilova won the Eastbourne title 11 times - and 9 times at Wimbledon;)

So Navratilova was a relative failure at Wimbledon.

Um, this curse since Navratilova's days has a pretty simple explanation. Venus, Serena & Graf all played Eastbourne in 1998, but other than that Venus only played it once in 1997. So unless you think Novotna's win in '98 is supernatural (not completely absurd), there's no curse here...the dominant players on grass in the last decade and a half have felt they don't need the warmup.

It's not really a curse if you are the French Open champ of that year. Only three women have won Eastbourne and the French Open in the same year: Justine, Chris Evert, and Martina Navratilova. Every time that both Chris and Martina won both the Eastbourne title and the French Open, they went on to win Wimbledon. Last year, Henin went to the final. It's a good luck tournament for the French Open winners who happen to win the tournament.

Navratilova won the Eastbourne title 11 times - and 9 times at Wimbledon;)

Also, I think Martina is the only player to win Eastbourne and Wimbledon more than once in the same year.
