congrats to ayumi morita for qualfying for her first gs,and first wimby entered, ayumi failed to qualify ai her gs debut at the uso last year in melbourne and rg lost 1strd. she has had alot of hype and expectation the last year or so,can she do some damage at wimby? she was ru to schultz-mccarthy in surbiton, made the3rd at birmingham [ defeating japanese no1 sugiyama she is playing so well on the grass have a feeling she will have a good tournie! tough opener against santangelo who is a good grasscourter

I would favour Ayumi to beat a lot of players in the draw, but I dont know about Santangelo. She is in good form at the moment and more experienced. Hopefully Ayumi can make the upset though.

Santangelo is a really tough match :scared:

Both beat Sugiyama in the best weeks, I am hoping Ayumi can pull the upset off :D

Whats her style? typical Asian-schooled flat hitter and good runner?

I thought Ayumi would qualify and get to the 3rd round or 4th round but having seen her draw not sure now. She has turned around her year on grass this year.

Well, like numerous player, she's a pretty fast player...not too tall, flat ground strokes from both sides.
She's
a 3 handed both sides player....but not like Bartoli or Peng...because she's switching her hands on the grip to hit 2 double handed backhands.
