Suppose there hadn't been 32 seeds, and Vee And See had been knocked out in round One at Wimbledon.

Who would have Won the Wimbledon Dish this year - and Why?

PS. DON'T Just vote for your faves. Consider How they've been playing here...Nerves etc...

Eventhough, Jennifer is defeated by Amelie, I would have preferred to see her as a champion. Hopefully, next time...

By the way, I'm referring to an 'individual' from here; "Silence is GOLD". I'm positive the message is taken. ;)

I think someone who lost to one of the Williams sisters would have won. My choice go to Chanda Rubin, Justine Henin, Amélie Mauresmo. If I have to pick one of the three then I pick Justine because she only lost in the semi-final like Amélie but Justine has already reached the final last year so I think she would handle the pressure best. Chanda would have reached the semi-final I think but I don't think she would have won against Henin or Mauresmo.

I agree with bcoene. Just think about it, it would be the semi-finalists plus the last good player one of the Williams beat.

Capriati - I just think that Williams sisters absence would have made her much hungrier for the title - or maybe Henin.

Most people voted for Amelie and Justine, with Chanda a close third. This is not surprising with Amelie and Justine as the losing semifinalists.

Only one person so far has picked Daniela - who I think would have done well against either Amelie or Justine.

Jennifer was the big surprise of the tournament, losing in the quarters to Amelie.

I think Amelie was the positive surprise of the tournament. If you look at her stats before the Serena match, they are amazing. But her mental frailty emerged again when presented with the challenge of Serena on top form. Her stats fell badly.

I believe that Anna K. would have seen her chance and won the Big One. :)

Justine. But the final against Mauresmo would be close. Amelie had a wonderful tournament, convincingly defeating Myskina and Capriati.

And her stats were certainly impressive. For instance: A winning percentage of 100 against Laura Granville on her 1st serve (28 points).

However, she did fold badly against Serena, while Henin put up a better fight vis-a-vis Venus. If I'm not mistaken, they have hardly played each other in the past, so we can't speak about 'ownership'.

Henin didn't impress insanely in this tournament either, only overcoming Dementieva and Seles by narrow margins. But I think she's a better player than Amelie in most aspects.

And when Mauresmo is under pressure, like she would be in a final, I see her big grass weapon, the thunderous 1st serve, deteriorating rapidly.

Justine, Justine!!!!

That's the trouble with MoMo. When the pressure is on, she often wilts. If she can cure that, she can go toe to toe with anyone.

The most impressive thing about Vee and Serena is their mental strength. Under pressure they play better.

PS Justine has now edged ahead in the poll.

Jane O'Donaghue obviously  - if you can beat Venus in the first round of Wimbledon you can beat anybody ...

It is just silly having people up there like Mary, Jelena, & Jennifer.

What would a losing williams do to their result ... not much ...

You could only put the possibilities as the players who lost to one of the sisters.

So the Vote Should be:

Justine Henin
Amelie Mauresmo
Elena Likhovtseva
Daniella Hantuchova
Lisa Raymond
Chanda Rubin
Maureen Drake
Els Callens
Virginia Ruano Pascual
Francesca Schiavone
Jane O'Donoghue
Evie Dominikovic

Anyother players loss would not be altered by the fact of a williams early exit.

I think Chanda or Hantuchova because they were playing the best but had the misfortune to run into a red-hot Serena.

Amelie is back on top again.
Closely Followed by Justine.
Then chanda
Then Jennifer.

Chanda WAS playing well... but would she have had the consistency to go all the way to her First GS Final - and win it? I wonder.

The same could possibly be said about Dani - though she has won a Tier 1. What do you think?

if they would lose in the 1st round than the presure would have been reduced off everyone, Jenny would have taken it
