Who the fuck does she think she is, taking breaks whenever she likes! :fiery:
Someone should teach her something about commitment, she's becoming a little slacker
( a little tongue in cheek........so I don't really hate Jelena ;) )

In me grandad's day, he'd tell you, they'd play week in week out, and it was on none of this Greenset, Rebound ace or Supreme Court whatever you call it, they'd play 9 set matches on hot coals in bare feet. And that was if they were lucky. And if they lost, even if there was only two points in it, their coaches would beat them with a belt, and that was to increase motivation! None of these sports psychologists they have now, it was a good slipper to the arse and you made sure it didn't happen again.
Tennis players now, they don't know they're born.

LoL @ Joey
Well thankfully she's finally taking a well deserved break :)

All these years your grandfather has lied to you! Your grandmother was the coach and they played on the hot sand and served at 25m.ph. softballs for lunch. He was belted for neglecting his chores and hanging out on the beach.

its good for her, she needs rest dude
Jul 5th, 2002, 03:04 AM
actually, my dad said he used to have to hike 10 miles through the snow, barefoot, with only the shirt on his back........
ps, as long as she makes it for the BOTW, I don't mind. The more competition, the better. :p

Good girl! Rest your body.
Jul 5th, 2002, 03:26 AM
Well she can go and watch Enrique get another DNF to his name (whoops!)
Big up to Enrique by the way... :D

And it was none of these F1 drivers as boyfriends either, it was a bloke who worked down the mine, and he earnt more than the missus did playing tennis, she'd be happy he'd get the beans on toast on the table for the eight kids. He'd be lucky to drive a rusty bicycle, have to cach the tram to work.
Jelena doesn't know she wor born... sponsorship deals and the like, in them days they had to buy their gear off 'er market, and yes, they did use catgut on their rackets, and they had to gut the cats themselves.
Jul 5th, 2002, 04:22 AM
I know how dare she even think about taking a break! I can't believe she might want to be fresh for the US Open. Dammit Jelena you have that 35 tournaments a year record to break;)
Jul 5th, 2002, 04:58 AM
I know, why do I even bother to cheer her on if she refuses to turn up for tournaments!
How's she ever going to reach that 35 tournament mark if she keeps skipping tournaments like this! ;) ;)
Jul 5th, 2002, 09:18 AM
Ooo... amazing... I'm so glad for her... :D
Jul 5th, 2002, 09:29 AM
Lol ........" they had to gut the cats themselves " ....thats just to funny!
Jul 5th, 2002, 10:23 AM
Well, if they would make Tim go through some of the preparation of those days, I'm sure he'll whip Lleyton's ass and go all the way to grab that trophy.
Jul 5th, 2002, 11:03 AM
LOL @ this thread :).
I actually can't believe that she's not playing .
Jul 5th, 2002, 11:04 AM
:D :D :bounce: I'm soo happy !!
Jul 5th, 2002, 12:33 PM
That's good for Jelena!! :)
Jul 5th, 2002, 05:51 PM
quality not quantity...i think the loss to Hantuchova has made her realise this
well earned break
Jul 5th, 2002, 05:55 PM
Dokic need rest, she played 31 Torunaments in the last 12 month - far too much.
Dokic is like Kafelnikov on ATP-Tour, crazy
Jul 5th, 2002, 06:01 PM
She is really gonna get hurt!
Jul 5th, 2002, 08:21 PM
Is she defending any points these two weeks?
And what are her chances for entering the top 5 the following weeks
Jul 5th, 2002, 09:21 PM
they had to gut the cats themselves.
we are amused:)
Jul 5th, 2002, 10:42 PM
Vlado: She should enter the top 5 at Stanford where Clijsters is defending the title.
Monica_Rules: and you wouldn't want that would you?
Jul 5th, 2002, 10:51 PM
LOL! If it's any consolation, I'm pretty sure that after these two weeks, Jelena will play every single week for the rest of the season.
She is committed to:
Last year she played
WTA Champs (quarters)
NOTE: The one week that is missing is that of Filderstadt and Shanghai. Jelena was in the draw for Shanghai but withdrew before play began.
Since Jelena has so many points to defend and has already committed to so many other tournaments, it appears that she will have very few weeks off for the rest of the year. I hope she will come to her senses and realize that what she is doing is shortening her career.

Jelena not playing? I don't know what it will be like without her in a draw!
