Wait, in doubles the aces are combined?

Eight aces is WAY too much - you only need 6 of them to win a set.

IMO, for doubles the aces should be averaged, and then rounded down if it isn't a whole number.

Vamos.
Jun 10th, 2007, 12:06 AM
8 aces is impossible to beat.

I think we should do no aces for doubles?

Or GIVE EVERYONE THE SAME AMOUNT.

Agree. And I have another idea - doubles team can can use aces of the competitor which has them more. For example: Player A has 4 aces, and player B has 2 aces, so team can use 4 aces.

Ok i will change sorry for the inconvienience...

u will use the person with the Most aces, in the set.. Ill change the rules, sorry i was a bit rushed this morning i had to go out and play tennis

Geoffrey91
Jun 10th, 2007, 07:16 AM
No i'm not agree !!!

-If player 1 has 4 Aces and player 2 has 2 Aces :

Team will have : (4+2)/2 = 3 Aces

-Player 1 has 3 Aces and Player 2 has 2 Aces :

Team will have : (3+2)/2 = 2 Aces ( not 2,5 )

If one player from a team is bad on the surface, te team can't be ver good even if the other is good !

It's not complicated, and it's a good system ! I don't understand why Harkleroad ( by exemple ) has 4 Aces in team although she has only 1 in single ! It's unfair. Amé and me has 3 Aces ( and not 2 as you wrote ) and now we are less than her !

You add number of aces of every player and you divide by 2 !

Spanish numer 2, Lourdes Dominges Lino, arrived at the Gold Caost with Compatriot, Anabel Medina Garrigues this morning. Straght away they went to thier Hotel, and got comfortable

Later in that day Lourdes went to Train With friend on Tour Sam Stosur, who is making her debut. Lourdes gave her a few tips in the Pressure of the crouds, and the playes on tour.

When they were training they decided to play a doubles game with Stosur/Shiavone and Dominguez Lino/Tanasugarn.

After they all went out to dinner, were Stosur recomended, and they had a great night.

In the first round in Doubles they face Jankovic/Panetta,were they hope they will go very well in doubles considering its the first tournament

http://www.manmademultimedia.com/magazine/news/sport/tennis/2006/Press_Room/Flavia_Pennetta.gif

Italian player Flavia Pennetta is ready for her second tournament here in Goald Coast.
This morning she practised with her friend and double partner Jelena, and then in double with Francesca and Samantha. She seemed in great form, even if her big problem is first serve!
This afternoon she made a training match with... her boyfriend Carlos Moya and she show a good game!! Hope she will do well here, even if fast surfaces are not her favorites!

Chakvetadze Arrives At The Gold Coast
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k89/xXxPosterGirlxXx/AnnaChakvetadze05.jpg

World number 20 Anna Chakvetadze arrived at the Gold Coast this morning, ready to make a big impact on the tournament. The Russian was dissapointed with her performance last week, where she lost in the first round. " I know I could have done better, I was frustrated during the match, none of my shots were going in and it got to me. My serve and backhand weren't working, and they are my best shots. That stuck in my head through out the whole match, and soon everything went." But Chakvetadze remains confident for the coming weeks "Over the past couple of days I have been practising hard, I feel I'm playing better than last week, and hopefully I can prove that here."
The 20 year old is playing doubles her for the first time with American Ashley Harkleroad, "Ash is a great player and a good friend. I have just come from a practise with her, and I know we will make a great doubles team."

Séverine Brémond is Radiant !

http://severinebremond.com/prfanzone.jpg

Arrived yesterday in Gold Coast, we found the first world number 1 signing for a crowd of children. Frenchplayer had fun to say that she has already some great fans ! " I was wondering how people react with me... I was scared but finally i love it. Everybody is so nice with me and asks for a dedication.

But the player isn't deluded, if she wants to win she must to work very hard " There are so many girls who are great competitors ! I must to be ready for every match. Moreever i really want to prove that i haven't got my title by chance !"

For the first doubles tournament, Sèverine will be combine to Amélie Mauresmo.

Dechy Speaks!

http://www.lespetitsprinces.com/images/tournoi2001/nathaliedechy/ndechy6.jpg

'This tournament is so mine! I let the other girls have a head start last week to take a look at the opposition and there wasnt anything to amazing. The draw isnt out yet but I dont fear anyone. If I am at 75% I will win 6-2 6-2. Its as simple as that. I am just being honest - I see all the other girls going out for meals together and then bitchy about each other in the locker rooms. They should stop being so fake. Also Severine needs a reality check - 7 kids wanting your autograph is nothing - try having over 600 hundred loyal fans follow you - they are great though, worshipping my every move.'

Keepin' It Real With... Maria Kirilenko
http://www.hicelebs.com/gallery/maria_kirilenko/79.jpg

Q. Maria... what do you really think about your chances this week at Gold Coast?

MK: Well, I have to say I like my chances. I got off to a slow start last week, but I've been working hard with my coach this week to develop some new strategies that will hopefully pay off. I love Rebound Ace, and I need to play like it.

Q. Maria.. what do you really think about Severine Bremond's title win last week?

MK: Well, hat's off to her I guess, it's always nice to win a title. However, let me ask you this: Who won the first ever WTA title? That's right, you don't remember, and nobody will really remember or care about Sev's little party at whatever that event was last week.

Q. Maria... Nathalie Dechy has proven to be quite an outspoken member of the ATC tour. What do you really think about her?

MK: Oh, she's a character for sure. But, I guess when you're ugly, the only way you can make friends is by being mean to others. That's    Oh, and I'm glad I don't have her skin complextion.

Q. Thank you Maria!

Amelie Strolls Into Gold Coast; Australia Stops Still.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y18/lisen/mauresmohorsedubai.jpg

Amelie Mauresmo rode bareback into Australia all the way from France upon her horse Pegasus who can fly, coincidentally. Mauresmo said that she flew above fellow-frenchwoman Dechy as she hitched a ride with a trucker due to a lack of finance. There are rumours circulating throughout the ATC as to how, exactly, Dechy managed to pay the big, fat, bald, smelly trucker but...she managed it somehow, she is a wily one - excuse the pun.

Anyway, Amelie decided that she would just come here and win the tournament then fly home on Pegasus to relax by listening to her favourite new band; Fall Out Boy. The press were shocked to discover that Amelie loved bopping away to the American punk band and there is a current rumour circulating that she may be joining the band.

Stay tuned...

Bartoli speaks before debut on the Gold Coast.

http://www.rtl.nl/sport/rtl_sport/components/voetbal/nederlandselftal/images/402x258MarionBartoli.jpg

Bartoli speaks before debut on the Gold Coast.

Marion Bartoli, the young French phenomène from Auvergne has told us today that she is ready to fight on, and off the court for a place in ATC top 10.

Q. What are your thoughts on the ATC?

Frankly I think it's wide open and I plan to makea huge assult on the Australian Open in a few weeks time...there just isn't anyone that I would consider a huge threat or a dominate force...knowing Brémond she wont'win another match for a few months after that one good showing anyway...

Q. What would be your dream match up in the r32 here?

Dechy, for sure. She talks big but I'm fairly certain she stands at 0/1 win/loss for the year..so keep up those big wins there Nathalie.

Q.I take it you're not a Dechy fan?

A. Well she seems to have so many fans...600 was it? Is that how many people live on Gaudeloupe? Probably...*laughs*...it's like, get a real island Dechy...does Gaudeloupe even have tennis courts? I doubt that too..It's just a goat, a palm tree and her on a volcano...what a joke of a player, no one likes her anyway.

Q. Good luck on tuesday!

A. Thanks! I'm going to give it everything I got and I just hope I get a good draw for my debut.

Molik Wins Gold Coast Opener

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/branty/AliciaMolik7.jpg
Australian Alicia Molik has advanced through to the second round of the Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts tournament on the Gold Coast. Alicia had a lot of support from the stands in her gutsy 5/7 6/3 6/4 win over Austrian phenom Tamira Paszek.
"I felt great out there. Tamira played a great match and I think the scoreline showed that. We both love the Rebound Ace so it was always going to be a tough one! I would like to thanks the crowd for all their support and hope they all come back for my second round... Tamira is a great player, I think she will be a huge force once she matures a bit."

Alicia next plays sixth seeded Spaniard Lourdes Dominguez Lino who won through to the second round with a comfortable 6/4 6/3 win over France's Aravane Rezai.
"You know, Lourdes is a solid player, she gets a lot of balls back and can really mix up her game. However, I think I do feel much more comfortable on this surface than I think she does, so hopefully I can come through again tomorrow."

Other first round winners included Gold Coasts resident Samantha Stosur, world number two Ashley Harkleroad and dangerous Italian seventh seed Francesca Schiavone.

We had a talk to Sam after her match:

http://www.sport927.com.au/sport927/images/photos/471.jpg

Q: Sam, this was your debut tournament how did you feel out there?
A: Well obviously at the start I was a little nervous but eventually I started to find my range and I really started to play some good Tennis.

Q: How nice was it to have the crowd cheering you on today?
A: It was great!! Whenever i got down they just picked me up and they really made me feel loved out there! I had m whole family watching so it was really good.

Q: Your serve also seemed to help you out today?
A: Yer my serve would have to be one of my strengths! I really enjoy serving and volleying and I feel like my serve really sets up my forehand.

Q: Next up you play world no. 3 Anabel Medina Garrigues, how do you feel about this?
A: Anabel is a great player but she is beatable she is very consistent so i just have to take my chances and serve well. After all i have nothingm to lose so if i win its a bonus if i lose im onto the Aussie Open!!

Q: Thanks for your time, Sam.
A: No problem, nice talking to you!!

Chakvetadze Hoping To Continue Her Streak
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k89/xXxPosterGirlxXx/AnnaChakvetadze03.jpg

Anna Chavetadze is looking to continue her streak at the Mondial Women's Tournament at the Gold Coast. This is only Chakvetadze's second tournament and after a dissappointing loss last week, she is looking to go far this week. The 20 year old is through to the second round after beating Serena Williams, in a interesting match 6-0 0-6 6-1, "That was the weirdest match I ever played, in the first set I was in total control and then the second she was on fire! I'm glad I came through in the third, the first couple of games were tough but then I took control again"
The Russian is on a roll, also reaching the finals here with Ashley Harkleroad. In the first round they beat Dechy/Rezai 6-1 7-5, and then they continued their winning ways beating Kirilenko/Paszek 4-6 6-4 6-4. " Ash and I played a brilliant match yesterday, I love playing doubles and it's extra play on this surface to get used to it before the Aussie Open"

Bremond(1) def. Peer
6-4 4-6 7-5

World Number One Séverine Brémond defeated Shahar Peer in a thriller match ! Both players played quite a good tennis but it wasn't the best match from Brémond !

I don't know what is happened... I played quite well and suddenly, i made some stupid errors ! However, Peer was fighting all the time and running everywhere. I think that to be World Number 1 allowed me to better manage my fellings in the end and to play most crafti than her !

Tomorrow, i will meet Kirilenko... She's like a lot of Russian girl, she hits strong, so i should to have to use a lot of varitions !!

Tough Match For Lourdes!
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r203/takako_moriyama/50782.jpg
Dominguez Lino(6) def. Molik 3-6 7-5 7-5

Spanish World number 2 Lourdes Dominguez Lino Rallied it out to Win against Australian Alicia Molik, who is a good friend of ehrs on Tour

The first set, Lourdes was facing all difficulties, with Alicas Huge first serves Puttin an amound of pressure on her. LLourdes couldnt keep up, ANd was forced most of the time to do an error.

The second set. Alicia led 5-0, But Lourdes fighting spirits over came the Huge serving Australian and brok her serve. With that she gain her confidence and took the set 7-5, with her Groundstrokes getting alot more agressive.

The third set, Lourdes was mentally weak, no able to pass Alicia, SHe would regualy come into the net, but Lourdes couldnt pass her. But alicia fell underpressure when serving it out for the set at 5-0, and Lourdes took full advantage of that. then took the set 7-5 once again

"that was a tough match, i was shocked that i could coem back in the third and second set. She is alot more confortable in this surface, then me. But my goundstrokes were winning me alot of free points. I hope this match wont make My match tommorow against My fellow country women Anabel Medina Garrigues Hard."

As Lourdes said she faces the number 3 seed, who won her match in straight sets against Australian Samantha Stosur.

Dechy Eases Past Harkleroad!

Nathalie Dechy def (2) Ashley Harkleroad 6-3 6-3

'That was really easy. I felt bad for Ash for not being able to compete with me, so I gave her a couple of games. After a tough match from a decent player in the first round, I knew I was in good form. The crowd was fully behind me and thats cute. I feel much happier now I am in Australia because I can feel the Aussie Open coming up and ready to win this title and that title. I see the girls are continuing to have a go at me which is funny because they are so green with envy of me. They cant believe the tennis world loves me'

Chakvetadze Confident Ahead of Aussie Open
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k89/xXxPosterGirlxXx/AnnaChakvetadze04.jpg

Anna Chakvetadze talked about her hopes for the Aussie Open today after she bowed out of the Gold Coast tournament by winning the doubles with Ashley Harkleroad. "I had a good tournament, this was my first time playing doubles and I'm very happy to win the title with Ash! We played a good match winning 3-6 6-4 6-4, in the first set we were a little tired after our singles matches but we got into it in the second and came out fighting in the third" Chakvetadze also reached the quarters in singles " I'm very happy to win a couple of matches here, after last week I was determined to win matches here and I did. Dechy played very well today and won 7-6(5) 6-3. I thought that I should have won the first set, and that effected me in the second the set and sadly I lost it, but I can't wait for the Aussie Open I'm fit and ready. Hopefully I get far in singles and doubles."

Medina Garrigues(3)[ESP] def. Dominguez Lino(6)[ESP] 7-5 6-2

Spanish number 2, Lourdes Dominguez Lino Lost in straight sets, to her fellow country women Anabel Medina Garrigues. Who won Quite Respectivaly

THe first set Lourdes was winnign 5-2, But when she was falling under pressire thinking that she never made it to a semifinal before, she feel under pressure then lost the set 5-8

The second Set was all Anabel, With her powerfull backhand, and her very consistant serve, Lourdes was not able to put any pressure on the Medina Garrigues Game.

"This was a tough match, playing a friend and country women of mine:" Said Lourdes. "I didnt take my chances, thinkign that ive never made it to the semi finals, and she had, she had alot mroe expiereince then me. Thinking that i will be seeded in Australian Open gives me alot more confidence, I like ot be thinked as a dangerous player" Said Lourdes gigling

"Dechy needs to clean up her act, she has alot of confidence, but this is to much, I hope Anabel can take her down"
