She won a 75k this year and had great result through the year, after having bad results last year because of injuries.

She is no. 198 on the world right now, what means she'll play Wimbledon qualies.

She has a smart game, good forehand, my opinion better forehand that backhand, and just plays a good solid game.I only watched her 1 time against Medina Garrigues, but she's improved now.

This week she's playing 50k Zagreb.

Zec Peskiric in Marseille. I became a fan :D she is of the kind of player i like, good overall game, staying calm and composed during matches, NO USELESS GRUNTS. I really think she has what it takes to enter top 50 at least, if she fixes that erratic serve. As for the disapointing loss to Olaru, i think even if she's older than her, she still lacks experience. All will come in good time (well, i hope so )

She has probably got that car for low price and in contract stays there must be her name on it. It`s quite common way "moderately famous" people get their cars ... They advertise trade-mark of the car and its saler.

There's like 5 Slovene posters on this board, hardly enough to make some noise. We have been denied a Slovenian tennis forum and that must be the dumbest thing ever, cause now we have a "Srebotnik forum" among the players forums and other Slovene girls in "Rest of the World" forum. They could easily merge those threads together in a "Slovenia-tennis forum", with a subforum for Katarina Srebotnik. Sadly enough this logical and understandable suggestion fell short when introduced to the board leaders . Admins don't seem to be the smartest bunch of people on this board:p

There has been a popular request to change the Srebotnik forum into a general Tennis Slovenia forum, like the Daniilidou forum has been changed into a Tennis Greece forum.
We discussed this between mods and admins, and decided it's a good idea, that makes a lot of sense. We're not sure though whether everyone who has voted for this forum realises that there will not be a Srebotnik subforum in the Tennis Slovenia forum. So, before who create the new forum, we want to make sure you still want the forum under that condition.

Thoughts and opinions are welcome in here.

Slovenian girl Katarina Srebotnik will try to improve her ranking next week (239) by playing in Luxembourg, alongside slovenian wildcard, Polona Hercog.

Meghan Shaughnessy will be in the main draw as well (she's ranked 559, oh my).

Where does Masa play next week?

ps : I don't understand why Luxembourg organizers gave a wildcard to Polona instead of giving it to Kremer or Schaul.

Boreas
Oct 17th, 2009, 09:24 AM
Kata and Megh were/are injured, it's delusional to expect any kind of decent results from them. In fact Kata's slipped down to 440 or so. She's yet to win a match this year, she's on a 7 matches long losing streak.

I have no idea why has Hercog received a MDWC. Her chance to win a match on hardcourt is similar to mine of winning a lottery. (ok, I don't play lottery, so she probably has a bit more chances). You get the point, however.:p

Masa's next tournaments are 100k+h in Poitiers and 50k +H tournament in Nantes. She's addicted to France:scratch:

However she's in the semifinal of madrid, finally beating Romanian Begu 64 64. Bulgarian skinny girl Dia Evtimova is her next tournament. With Floris, Evtimova and Fernandez Brugues completing the SF line-up it would be quite disappointing to see Masa not winning this tourny.

Boreas
Oct 17th, 2009, 09:40 AM
Of course I don't expect miracles in France, since the tournaments will be played on hard courts. By winning a few more matches this year she could actually guarantee herself a MD spot in Melbourne, since she has noithing to defend till the start of the new year.

Boreas

Masa's first 2 tournaments in the new season are Auckland and Hobart.

In an article I found on internet she also speaks about her goals - she hopes to finish the year around top 60. Her new coach is a former Slovene atp player Marko Tkalec(career high of 250 or so, retired 5 months ago after winning a 15 k title) who helped her improve her serve(:woohoo::banana:), which is a great news to hear! They changed her game quite a bit, apparently we can expect a girl with more power and more agressive game.

She said that her trainings were really great in the last month and that her goal for AO is to qualify and win at least one match in MD. I like this attitude and the fact that she's awared of her shortcomings (serve!!!).

I hope she can make her wishes come true and that's also what I want for her in the next year. Good luck Maša!:yeah:

Masa lost to Granville 26 76 46:cry:

Summation based on Statistics:

- she still can't serve(13 dfs) (-)
- she fought back trailing 1-4 in the second set(+)
- failed to serve out the second set, eventually managed to win the TB(-/+)
- fairly nice serving in the third set(+) until 9th game when she blows 3 gps and gets broken (-)
- she wins a set on hard courts, which is not bad everything considered (mind that she managed to lose vs sharipova in straight sets, less than a month ago) (+)
- I think she might win a match or 2 in AO qualis, especially drawing some useless Asians, such as Nara, Doi etc., girls who benefit by playing crappy 25k challengers somewhere close to Kamchatka (+)
- we'll have to wait for clay season. (-)
- hopefully she does better in Hobart where she plays next (?)

Observation:

- 7 DFs, too many(-)
- dismal serve stats in first set, only winning 5 points(-)
- tight second set, Masa was up a break and had 2 bps at 5-5. They remained unconverted (-)
- her serve doesn't seem to be fixed(-)
- Final conclusion: see third last and second last points of match summation against Granville

Granted she can win some matches on hard courts, she had many chances against Grnaville and even Flipkens, she just doesn't use the chances she's given. She blows way too many GPs.

I'm positive she can beat her and then she would face either Namigata or Ivanova. Masa defeated Fujiwara 64 26 61. Not very pleasing result, she got broken 7 times or so. First and second set, especially were very shaky with lots of breaks and obviously poor serving from Masa. Then she really stepped up and easily won the third set, not facing a single BP.

Her next opponent is Ekaterina Ivanova, to whom she lost in Marbella, 2009, 06 46. Russian is in good form and will be much tougher than Fujiwara.

Maša lost vs Tetreault 36 36.

All in all my prediction about winning a round or 2 turned out as correct. She defeated Fujiwara and Ivanova who both have much better results on hard courts than Maša. To be fair there are tons of things she can improve and I hope she manages to develop her game even further. Her serve is a bit weak for her height and her game seems to be too erratic, many UE's based on statistics. She gained 50 points for rankings and basically covered the points she earned in Bogota last year. I'm quite satisfied with her results down Under and am really looking forward to see what can she achieve on clay courts.

First she's heading for FED CUP in Portugal and then across the Ocean for South American swing of clay WTA tourneys where she's in MD already:)

Good news from France. Maša fought hard and won her first 2 matches, defeating de Andres and Meusburger. Both matches took only slightly less than 3 hours. Her QF opponent is no.1 seed Yaroslava Shvedova, who leads H2H 2-0. Good luck:worship:

She's still in the doubles tournament with Pervak - their QF opponents are Meusburger/Barrois

Maša has served surprisingly little amount of DFs. Only 5 today and 4 yesterday. In both matches she served a couple of aces, too.

Maša defeated Shvedova 64 16 63 to secure her place in the semis. Served 3 aces and 3 DFs - her serve stats are getting more and more weird:banana:

Barrois goes home despite winning 14 more points than Maša. Maša won 76 16 75 and will face Kaia Kanepi in the final. Only 2 DFs:banana:

Good luck tomorrow:yeah:

Maša, obviously tired lost the final against Kaia Kanepi 3-6 2-6.

Still, this was a great tournament for her, I just hope she keeps playing like that. Her next stop is 50K Challenger in Prague.:):yeah:

Together with Lykina she's also up to play the doubles final vs Cetkovska/Hrdinova

WTF happened? i mean, seriously a player like Zec can't lose to Piquion..... this is so disappointing

We can only guess - perhaps she put to much pressure on herself, knowing that RG offers her the best chances for a good result:shrug:

The result is beyond awful, I feel like smashing a few things around me:help:

Maša is back playing the only tournament she managed to win twice in her career - Maribor 50k. As 5th seeded she's playing vs Elena Bovina in the first round of singles. She's also no.1 seed in doubles, together with Ksenia Lykina, with whom she won a title in Prague, a few weeks ago.

Due to early exit at RG she had almost 2 weeks to get her game back together and I expect a good (SF at least) result from her.

Good luck Maša!

She's in the singles QF playing vs Pous Tio and lost the SF in doubles vs Klepac/Majeric(:angel:we're not that angry)

It's gonna be tough vs Pous-T but if she can play at her near best she has a shot:armed:

Maša lost in the QF, plus in the 2nd round of Marseille.

She's been in shit form ever since playing the Cagnes Sur Mer final, so until she doesn't start showing some sort of improvements in her results I'll delibaretly ignore this thread:(

Pathetic display of tennis since 4-1 in the first:weirdo: Now, I'm convinced that with such attitude she will never again reach the top 100. She belongs to mental midgets somewhere around 150

Maša's in need to prepare for US open qualies and lost to Ryzhonkova in Copenhagen qualies. Don't know where she's playing next, but I'd rather see her playing 25k clay challengers in Europe than travelling to the States where she's not likely to gain any confidence.

good luck to her, wherever she decides to play;)

Maša managed to set a new World Record - it reads 12 DFs/h (12 double faults per hour):bounce::worship:. She of course also lost 2 and 3, but that's of secondary importance.

Congrats!
