The % stats look good, but I have not seen many (any?) aces at RG. How is her motion? Is the shoulder still bugging her?

She's spinning alot of them in. Watching the live T&S, I saw a few over 180 km/h, but only a few. During the NBC telecast yesterday, they showed her taking some meds at one point during the match, and claimed it was for her shoulder. So obviously, it isn't 100%. On clay, this probably isn't the liability it will be at Wimbledon.

Maria managed one serve at 117 mph during the Patty match. But generally she's keeping them down - which means no aces normally, and a lot harder work in the rallies.

I'm so proud of her for not going for it too much, that would only lead to many double faults anyway, a good first serve percentage is more important, and even though it's weak it's not like she is serving 50 mph serves now.

We can only hope her serve will be back for Wimbledon, she will really need it there.

Her serve seemed a little stronger this round, made a few more doubles but also another ace :D

Hope her shoulder is holding up okay.

She'll need to be good against the mighty serbian(s)

Her serve has really held up well and it seems to be improving and growing in speed match by match. Hopefully she can take it up another gear for Ivanovic.

what the commentator said here is that she was having some problem with the TOSS
nothing about the shoulder, more about the way she throw the ball on air for server... the toss

Thats weird because she is so perfect in her seving routine her toss is always perfect.

Yeha, I was just re-watching and was in Ana Chak-something that Maria had some bad toss
the commentator said that she was throwing the ball to far of her body and she made a DF on the 4-3 game on the first set if I'm not wrong... and you could clearly see what I'm talking about.

Uhmm, that's strange, how come her toss suddenly off? I thought toss-prob only happens to newbie in tennis. Like Andrew said her toss has always been perfect, she's tossed countless time in her career and hit tons of aces. It's like a routine. Now there's something wrong with it, can anyone explain?

Well, what you say is quite true. She double faults a lot now because of her debut of bad toss. :help::devil: Unexplainable and pretty mysterious:help:  . But, their's no question on masha's serve : she has one of the best serves in WTA. Nevertheless, I find it quite unvariable especially on second serve compared to Mauresmo or Justine who just know how to use the effects they want to their serve. Masha just slices the ball a little bit, exterior or on the T and those balls are just a cake for a person like serena who just amuses herself returning those balls strong short cross court. To my mind this is why masha has lost her 3 last matches to serena this year.

"I have a dream that Masha wins Wimbly, US open, Australian open and Rolland Garros in 2009...
I have a dream that Masha makes her game evoluate to the net...
I have a dream that Masha ditches out Serena everytime they meet...
I have a dream that Masha that Masha and I could be happily and ever married !"

I think Masha's recent serve problems are all to do with the shoulder, and her trying to protect it.

The serve has been off hence only 2 aces at RG. I hope its improving now.

Anyone still remember Masha was ace queen at USO 06?
I hope it's nothing psychological...

You answered your own question, implicitly.

That's the last time she was truly healthy for a major.

I agree with you, I mean, her shoulder is getting better but, as she said, is not 100% ok yet, so she has to be careful with it until then. But either way, I think her serve is getting better as time pass by, right?? maybe not like it was at the US Open, but evetually it will

Already 2 times RG!

After all one of her aces at RG was the Patty hand incident.....

I think her serve is OK. I followed the live score of the today's match and she almost always won the points after her serve first. The stats are misleading cause she sucked closing out the match. At 5-0 Maria, she was like 12 out of 15 points won with the first serve.

It's a long processus to have your serve back. Like it was last year. Hope she fully recover in London.

yeah, it‘s getting better the only thing is that due to her sholder, myabe she is not hitting as many “bombs" as she used too. Instead, she i trying to get in more 1st serve with better placement, I think, so that‘s good too. It all will come back soon :)
