After the game yesterday and the crowd's reaction, I realized that Maria's fan community is getting smaller and smaller. Therefore, I decided that us, Masha fans, should unite and make her something to show our admiration and appreciation. I feel like she is getting weaker just coz of the lack of support.

Anyone has any ideas? thoughts? suggestions? You are welcome to write me here or private messages.

Masha gets good support at the AO and the USO these days....im sure shes appreciated by the Wimby crowd too. Im all for a world wide support group going by the same name and cheering Maria at all her tournaments though :D

Maria is the most popular female athlete in the world. Her fanbase could not be bigger. Maria is strong enough to take the obnoxious French crowd's boos with a pinch of salt. Besides, she's in good company. Serena got booed, Martina Hingis got booed... even Dechy got booed in this tournament! and she's French!

I don't think it was that bad really, most people weren't against her when she won but cheering for her. You always have those losers at the French, you just don't have to take it personal

I don't think it was allout hatred towards Maria, they wanted Patty to win and everyone loves an underdog. That controversial ace when Patty stopped really didn't help matters. It was a nice touch when Patty gestured to the crowd not too boo Maria at the end.

Maria puts bums on seats like no other player in the womens game but the crowds rarely pull for her, it is strange.

The 17 year old girl who won the hearts of so many at wimbledon in 2004, has committed the sin of growing into a powerful, sophisticated, assertive woman. One who is wealthier, and more famous.

Boooooooo, they say. Give us back the weaker, more innocent little girl.

Not gonna happen. If all they can do is boo about it, it is not maria's problem.

A good idea would maybe be a message book, like messages from fans here and someone giving it to her if they go to a tournament she is going to...

Its been done before, but its a great way to show her the feelings of her true fans. :)

What should we do? Very simple: keep supporting her, whatever happens... In good times, bad times - no matter. ALWAYS. :worship: Support virtually, like on this forum, and in reality - on tournaments.
You know... Im going to Wim this year. :bounce: Gonna take my Russian flag with me and support our players, especially Masha of course. That's where I'll show my support!
BTW... Just curious... Are there any members of Maria's Mafia who will come to Wimbledon? ;)

Poor Maria. I think her shoulder must be the cause of this.

But when is Maria going to rest it long enough for it to heal?

What I'm surprised about is how long the shoulder issue has been going on. In patches it seemed Maria's shoulder was getting a lot better, but her serve/shoulder just fell apart in the semifinal. I don't know everything about the injury, but hasn't she had it since January? Quite a long time.

But yeah, Sharapova's extremely popular. Tards on messageboards don't constitute anything. But even if her popularity wasn't waning, the idea to do something is still nice. :)
