I need "explanations" for the following:

- Rotation
- Translation
- Reflection
- Glide Reflection
- Tessalation

Thanks!

rotation is spinning around a central axis
translation is moving the shape around on the x,y axis without rotating it
reflection is a mirror image of it along a line
glide reflection is translation and reflection combined along the mirror line

^
-------
V ---> V

the ^ is reflected and then the reflection is translated

tesslation is when a shape is repeated over and over again to make a pattern

Whenever I ask my friend if he knows something, he busts out the phrase:
Did you ever hear of this thing called "The Web"?

Now, as annoying as he is, it's true....

If you want to get a more detailed explanation with images, check it out on www.wikipedia.org

I tried "The Web" to see how I could convert cyclopentene into cyclopentanone, that didn't work. It didn't either in trying to find a way to turn 1-bromo-3-phenyl butane into 3-phenyl butanoic acid. :o A friend did though. :)

Sally, the next time I do a corkscrew spin while sucking a dick, I'll think about how I'm doing a glide reflection along his X-axis!
