Hopefully Nicole will do better here than she did at Charleston. :tape: She needs a good run here - QF at least.

Of the R16 match ups, I guess Daniela would be the most favorable one for Nicole. But a match with Anna would be interesting I think.

I really want daniela to R16... she's the best opponent for Nicole I think and then Hingis :)

I also hope we get to see Nicole do much better than in her last tournament. In fact i think that the move to red clay will do the trick for her.

it will be great but I think Daniela or Nicole won't reach final :) don't worry you have to admit that for Nicole Daniela is the best opponent to R16 :)

I saw Warsaw draw and I can see that Nadia should lose to HENIN in QF and so still stay back of Nicole in rankings so Nicole should be in TOP 8 in Berlin and then in Rome too ;)

Serena withdrew so now Nicole will face Anna, Elena, Daniela, or Ana in R16.

Come on Nicole.

Make a deep run here. :)

Vaidisova
May 1st, 2007, 04:22 AM
If you look at Nicole's results at tournaments this year, there is a pattern of doing well at two tournaments then going out early in the next:

Sydney - SF
Australian Open - SF
Paris - R16
Indian Wells - QF
Miami - QF
Charleston - R32

Going by that pattern, Nicole will do well at Berlin and Rome but then lose early at Roland Garros. Let's hope she can string together three good performances.
But the last time Nicole at least made the QF in 3 straight tournaments would have been back in 2005 when she won 3 titles in a row (and also made SF at Philadelphia).

Sexysova
May 1st, 2007, 06:54 AM
yes :) and if she didn't play with Lucie in Paris she could make qf sure... because Lucka had really great run and in Charleston it was shame :(

why Serena withdrew? it's great for Nicole :) but Ivanovic is strong too... I want Dementieva or Hantuchova... the best is Hantuchova(don't worry Lunaris) ;)

Nicole will remain at #8 in the rankings that come out on Monday.

Now onto Berlin where Nicole did not play so looking at the last year results from the girls currently ranked behind Nicole:

Petrova - W
Safina - QF
Chakvetadze - R16

So with Berlin and Rome tournaments left to decide RG seedings, hopefully Nicole can stay ahead.

The draw will be out Saturday.

Vaidisova Ruled

I think that Nicole can reach the SF
She beat Ivanovic this year, and even if a match against Hingis or Schnyder looks tough, Nicole can succeed.
In the SF , Nicole can meet Saforova or Mauresmo. If Nicole plays like last year in RG, she can go to the final

Vaidisova
May 5th, 2007, 06:26 PM
There's no Henin, Kuznetsova, Petrova, Dementieva, or Jankovic in her half which is good.

Francesca has not been that great this year and just lost handily to Azarenka. Alona though seems to be doing well as she is in the final of Warsaw. So the first match will be tricky but Nicole should win it. :o

I think the bottom half match ups will be Nicole vs. Hingis and Safina/Chakvetadze vs. Mauresmo.

:awww: not the best draw but Nicole for sure can reach at least semies

May 5th, 2007, 07:12 PM
Decent draw. :)

Bondarenko may be in the finals, but she hasn't had the toughest draw and it seems Sveta gave her a lot of errors.

Ivanovic in the 3R is interesting, because you never know what kind of form Ana will be in. :o

I expect Nicole to at least make the QF, but she really should make the SF.

Good luck Nicole! :)

Nicole's seventeen best tournaments. She could add a nice amount of points in Berlin with nothing to defend there, and in Rome too.

Vaidisova
May 7th, 2007, 05:06 AM
Thanks for the chart.

yeah hopefully Nicole can do well in these weeks. And looking at the chart, Nicole will have more chances to improve on previous results and add on points in several big tournaments - most notably the US Open.

Nicole Vaidisova was slotted to be the No.6 seed, but had to pull out on Sunday as she continues to struggle with a wrist injury.

"I am very disappointed to not be able to play in Berlin," the world No.8 said. "I flew all the way here hoping my wrist would get better. As I was born in Germany I feel a special connection with this country and was hoping to do well. It was my first time here in Berlin; I am hoping to be back next year able to compete."

DAMN, enough for adding points then. It really sucks, I hoped that the points from here would be a good compensation for the points from Strasbourg and possibly from RG. No matter, I just want her to be healthy for the upcoming Slam, so it's probably a good decision.

But why she couldn't have been in Daniela's section of the draw at least? :tape: Everything seems to be fucked up.
Get well soon Nicole, that's the only important thing.

The news was all unexpected. I wish we knew more about the injury. In that quote Nicole said it happened before Berlin. :( Wrist injuries can be very serious so it is good she will take a break but certainly not the best news with Roland Garros right around the corner. :(

I think it's not too serious. I was told that on friday during a promotional event for Reebok in the Alexanderplatz in Berlin Nicole had a hitting session with some kids for about one hour. This leads me to think that by pulling out she only wanted to make sure the injury won't get worse before the French Open. I believe it's just a precaution, hopefully.

btw. I was also told (by a non-Nicole fan) that she was really nice, so the people in GM can go fuck themselves.

Vaidisova
May 8th, 2007, 01:32 AM
I hope it is just precautionary. I guess we will find out how serious it is when there are updates on the Rome entry list in the coming days.

I wonder if Nicole will just take a rest and not play at all until Roland Garros or skip Rome and try and take a late entry/WC for Strasbourg or Istanbul...? Guess it just depends on the severity...

And yeah people in GM are ridiculous. :o

I'm starting to be used to the "Nicole's a bitch!"

The last time, she pulled out of a big event,it was at Miami and Iw in 2006 (I don't count Hasselt as I believe she withdrew because the season was over).
Finally, the injury wasn't as bad as we previously thought. Her step-father already said he doesn't want to let Nicole play if she isn't 100% ready.I guess it isn't very serious.
She could play Strasbourg as a last resort if she has no choice to skip Rome.
