Anne Kremer:

Currently Ranked 100. Had been playing qualies most of the year. Faced Makiri in Doha and got beate 1 and 2.

Bottom line is that Makiri should win handily. Hope she had a good couple weeks off and that her spirits are up. I expect her to get to the semis here. The 8th seed already lost in her quarter.

Good luck!!

A horrible loss. Maria needs a real coach. She is going nowhere fast. If she doesn't get a real coach very soon, Maria isn't going to have a career. Maria says she wants to be a top 10 player. If she means, she'll push daddy to the side and hire someone who can help her get to the level she belongs. It is now or never for Maria. She needs results and fast. Results for her confidence and results for her finacial well-being. If she doesn't start winning, her sponsors are going to drop her. That is something she can't afford. Come on Maria! Take control of your career before it is too late

Let's face it, this is a DEBILITATING loss to Makiri's mental psyche. She came to Budapest to play a Tier IV tourney in hopes of building up her confidence and ranking. Instead, she loses again and continues to suffer from ERES (early round exit syndrome) she's been trapped in for awhile. I'm just totally frustrated with this outcome. THIS JUST PLAIN SUCKS-ASS PEOPLE!!!:fiery: Maybe she's better off being a doubles specialist. Is there such a thing as a Tier V Tourney on the WTA circuit???

i can so relate to your frustrations
certainly maria must be  herself!!

although i dont think she should relegate herself to a double exclusive just yet..no, she won't win any slams but i'll give her the next 18-24 months to consolidate herself as a top player and get a few more singles titles under her belt.

She has a lot of shots in her arsenal but what's so good about them if you don't use it? I read in wtatour.com that is was Kremer's baseline play that making Kirilenko struggle.

There's a few things that might be going on with Kirilenko:

Either her game hasn't fully developed yet or no coach to help her.
Not too much practice on clay.
She is very low on confidence.
Things weren't clicking very well.

I refuse to believe that she just isn't talented enough. That's silly. It's true that talent can only take you so far. It's a shame. We can't give up yet though, that's for sure.

I definitely disagree that she should turn into a doubles specialist. Her doubles success is pretty good but her singles is where the most potential lies.

Apr 27th, 2007, 06:05 PM
she is so young it will be idiot that she will play only doubles she has so many talent that she can win tournaments and make phenomenal matchs so she must in my way continue in single to make is game better and better

it seems like all of us are voicing the same p.o.v.
sure, we're only outsiders looking in but if everyone- including those in gm- can come to the same consensus, i really wonder why those in makiri's camp (if she has one at all) cant.
