..who do you support?

When Masha is injured and out for a fairly long time which one of your favourite players becomes your *temporary* favourite?

I can't say that any one of my favourite players becomes my main favourite when Masha is out. I usually just follow each one like I normally do. Lately though I've been feeling very weird about the players I follow though, sometimes I feel like I don't even like them that much

I don't "switch" when the going gets rough. I do like Vaidisova, Myskina, Zvonareva and Linetskaya, as well as Masha, and pull for them whenever they play.

Golovin, Kuznetsova, Clijsters, and a few others I also follow and enjoy when they win--just not against the faves listed above. :)

Justine of course, but she's also out right now. Jankovic and Golovin are others I like to watch. :)

Martina Hingis of course, no doubt about it ;)

I Heart Masha, I wasn't implying that you have to "switch" when the going gets tough. Sorry but I get sick of people thinking they can tell others who they should support and how and when. :D I don't switch to other players either, but when Masha is out I don't sit and twiddle my thumbs.

All I was saying is, who do you support while your favourite player is out.

To everyone thanks for the responses. :yeah:

On a side note I Heart Masha, is there a Melbourne in Florida?

I must be honest and say that if Maria isn't playing I don't really follow tennis that much :help:

No need for the attitude.

Your comment implies that you think one can't support anyone else while your favorite is "in", so to speak. Which isn't true of most.

Yeah--is there one anywhere else?

'I don't "switch" when the going gets rough.'

;)

And I was actually asking when Maria is out of play, who do Maria fans follow the most out of their other faves. Not implying that one can't support anyone else while their favourite is in.

How on earth would you get the idea that I think one can't support anyone else while their favourite is 'in'? Especially seeing as though I included this statement in my response to your post.

'Sorry but I get sick of people thinking they can tell others who they should support and how and when.'

My opinion is that someone who gets annoyed when people try to tell others how and when to be a fan of a player would not think that one can't support anyone else while their favourite is playing.

Ditto here. But in my case, I don't follow tennis at all if not for Masha. So 3x :help: for me

Uhm, the only other players I would watch are Kirilenko, Golovin, Vaidisova, Dementieva, Hingis, Ivanovic and Hantuchova, but I'd watch all of these players even when Maria is playing. Maria's my favourite player so I wouldn't just 'switch' or hop on some bandwagon.

It's a pity neither of the Maria's are playing at the minute

I support many players when Maria competes or is out, but I'm rooting for Maria all the way if she faces one of them  .

Why are some people thinking that I am implying they are bandwagoners and are disloyal to their faves?

Of course we all have other faves that we support when Masha is playing, but Masha isn't playing, who do you support the most out of your other faves.

I'm not questioning anyones loyalty to Maria or implying that you 'switch' as soon as Maria has bad results or is out with an injury, so stop defending yourselves!

I personally am not offended or upset if you 'switch' from Maria to another player, or if you are a bandwagoner.

Maria is my favourite player, but I can't follow her right now, because she's not playing. ;) I follow the tour even when Maria is out, so there has to be some other players that I root for. These may be players I already support when Maria is playing, or they may be some players I have only recently become interested in.

This was the question which I was asking, who are the players that you support when Maria is out of play? Or do you just not follow the tour like some posters have already stated? :)

I'm not judging anyone on what their answer is, I was just interested to know what other fans do in circumstances where Maria can't play for a long period of time.

yeah, i wouldnt know why somebody got this the wrong way, i mean masha comes first. no doubt about that :haha:

so, ya apart from you know just following as many matches as i can rooting for jankovic mostly and a lot of other players as well... i have found myself rewatching maria's matches. like today i watched the last part of the 2006 zurich open final that she won and giving that i was there live to support her it made me remember these cool moments and therefore made me happy.

its pretty simple, but it certainly works. i hope maria will write another doodle though to let us know what her current condition is and i hope she'll concentrate mainly on tennis this time, because we all need/want to know what's happening.

before i knew something was wrong with her shoulder i was going nuts. i felt so helpless and well ya clueless.
knowing that maria has got a big support team around her that can help her get through that makes me feel calmer as well.

now all we can do is wait of course, but i am glad to do that, because masha can only get better and i dont know why, but i feel like she's gonna suprise us at RG :-) and no it wasnt a bird who told me that.

Same :o...Actually, I've been trying to stay away these past few weeks. Maria's too much of a fave that her situation now saddens me enough to be turned off by tennis at the moment.

I try to catch the semis and finals of tournies if the players involved interest me at all. But the excitement compared to when Maria is playing and doing well is just totally different. Actually, I'd say there's no excitement for me when she isn't playing. But that doesn't mean I won't get to enjoy a good match here and there (like the AI match between Tati and Ana) or enjoy watching another great player (like Justine when she plays well). It's just a different viewing experience when your fave is playing. I guess I get affected too much by things. But generally, when Maria isn't playing, I cheer for the the other ones in my sig - Martina, Lena - but guess what? None of them are playing. It's not my time in the tennis world...:(

And there's Marat to cheer me up at times like this past weekend. Too bad I didn't get to see it on tv.

THE S.S.S Sharapova-Shahar-Serena!!! usually one of them is always playing, thankfully. still not the same without masha. but this is when she normally takes her break from tennis so it's like old times in a way. cant wait for her to make her clay debut, hopefully she surprises everyone.

Im a big fan of Serena Williams and Jelena Jankovic... Even when Maria is playing I still hope for them to suceed, however if it comes down to Maria vs Jelena or Serena I choose Maria!!

Unfortunatley Jelena hasnt really done too well this year, along with Maria, except for the very begining of the year.. So I havent seen her play since Doha!!!!

But I dont dislike any player, I usually support most players and hope they all play well and make an interesting and entertaining match...

Well both my fave players aren't playing (Mary and Masha), so I don't follow tennis that much. I check GM of the stats who's winning and who's losing and yes I do have other players I like but there's just no one who can give me that feeling Mary or Masha can give me. You know it's like a rush you're in whenever she enters a tournament. I get all excited and I'm always anxious of how she played and so on and so on.
