View Full Version : Groenefeld Taking 9 Week Break

So Disrespectful
Apr 1st, 2007, 10:22 AM
Just for anyone interested who hasn't read yet.

From her official website:
"Anna-Lena has withdrawn from Indian Wells, Miami, Amelia Island and Charleston due to personal reasons. She is excited to rejoin the tour in mid-April. Thank you to all her fans for the great support!"

So I expect she has been training very hard and will continue to do so until her first tournament back in Warsaw. I don't know yet whether she is playing Fed Cup (that would explain mid-April) or not. Anna-Lena could be a huge force at RG if she comes back prepared.

That´s old news, isn´t it

I doubt ALG will lift her game before the US hardcourts this summer

I think she´ll get some difficult draws in the leading up for RG and the fact she won´t get a seed at Paris will lead to a difficult draw in that too

Maybe though she´s lifting her game on grass where she did great in the preparation last year but did terribly in the grand slam itself. A chance for 07?

Shame ALG didn't take this decision sooner. Hopefully can get fit, start winning and threatening the top 10 again.

Great choice Ana-Lena, this could turn out to be the best one she's made yet.

good decision. it saves he getting beat first round in all those tournaments. hopefully she will do some serious fitness work. it she comes back and is still as fat she doesnt deserve to call herself a professional tennis player

She should do what Sofia did play a small national tournament, then a 50,000/75,000 event then get back on the WTA it worked for Sofia !

I only count 6 weeks between Indian Wells and Charleston. Mid-April is a week and a half away. That's about Fed Cup time. Berlin would take it to 9 weeks, unless she counted losing early at Doha as a week, which would take it to Warsaw. I don't know what's worse, this girl's form or her mathematical skills. Lol.

it was the thread-starter who counted 9 weeks, not the website (or ALG) ;)
