Bravissimo, Ms Serena Williams. I have no problem acknowledging you're the best active player in the world as far as your record goes (the figures speak for themselves). In the same way, you're again the best right now.
I normally don't visit GM on such days and I don't think I feel like reading what's being said.
Just one thing, that matchup lived up to its expectations.
I hope Williams fans will see that's it's even better for their idol to shine when she's had a tough confrontation, it makes for an even better memory to cherish in the treasure of a fan's recollections.
I just hope some of you will stop hating Justine so much, she's the true number two, which is not so bad and the only one right now that seems able to give Serena some trouble. If the streak goes on it should make for great tennis this year.
Plus, the two ladies were great during the ceremony.
I'm surely bloody naive believing there can be renewed respect for my girl. But what is life without some hope.
Thank you, ladies, for a fantastic match, one of the best (at least in terms of emotions) we've seen for years.
Bye, now. I'd rather not read the reactions to this thread...

That's really weird coming from a Justine fan to call her #2. This was a match that was on a surface more favorable to Serena, near her home, in conditions Justine doesn't like...and Justine still was one point away from winning it. I'm not ready to bump her to #2 just yet.

But the Justine fan won't be reading this I guess.

that's classy. i don't hate justine anymore. i even more than respect her. i have a favorable-neutrality towards her. i'll definitely root for her to win against some players, which is something i'd never do in the past. i think she and serena have both grown up. while i do think serena is the best in the game, i don't think serena has as beautiful a game as justine. there. i said it. however, serena doesn't get nearly as much credit as justine or hingis when it comes to her tennis mind. serena out finessed justine on some points. anyway, i'm glad this match was as good as it was and justine will definitely be the favorite (on paper) on clay, granted they meet.
