Beautiful tennis, drama, tension, changing momentum...Women's tennis can be really beautiful.

Well done to both!

Agreed.

I'm already excited about the prospect of their next encounter which will probably take place in about four years.

I totally agree. Justine is number one for a reason - and win or lose - she showed just how good she is today. Even Serena acknowledges that Justine is playing the best tennis on tour. I still think Serena will close the gap this year, but there's no denying that Justine was simly outplaying Serena in the early going. I'm excited to see them play some more this year! :yeah:

Not really beautiful tennis, but great drama and fight from both. Serena's wins over Justine have all been in straight sets. Will this one be different?

Too bad I havn't been able to watch it because of the very "talented" technicians at the ATP Masters Series T.V. website.

I really like how these two play the game. I mean Serena kept fighting to win one point at 5 -0 down, how many of the other players do that? Justine, just unbelievable tennis. First women's final in a while that have really been competitve.

Nah, I hope we see them duking it out at RG 07.

Not to mention, these are two of the best athletes outside of Venus, Kim, Amelie, Sveta, and Lena D. the sport has to offer.

Definitely. I enjoyed every minute of it, it had everything you can want in a big tournament's final:yeah: I was hoping soooooo much for a third set, and when Serena saved the 2 match points, I knew this match could become a classic:yeah:

I actually thought it was completely beautiful tennis. The shotmaking was simply spectacular. Yes, there were many UFE's from both players...but in this case I think it just shows how much risk-taking they had to do to win games.

That 6-0 bagel set? MUCH more competitive than it looked. Most games went to deuce, and Justine actually struggled to hold her serve. Serena just wasn't quite keyed in yet.

Excellent 2nd set...all I can say is Justine may have got too tight and let it go. But once that happened, boy did Serena move in for the kill...6 straight games.

The last 3 games of the match were somewhat dominant from Serena, but yet still Justine had triple break point. Just a fantastic series of ups & downs and great tennis from both. Kudos to Justine & Serena for the best match I've seen on the WTA since I started watching again in Jan. 06...and likely before that.

fantastic final.

maybe not quality wise, although (towards the end especially) there was some great shots/rallies.

We finally see a really drama filled final at a tier 1 between two long time rivals!! :worship: Just what the WTA needed. Serena :worship:
