Not with the way she's playing now.
The first serve percentage has to be higher.
She's going to need to flatten out more shots on these hard courts.
She's going to have to make sure her slice stays low.
She's going to have to come to net a lot more than she's use to.
She's going to have to make sure she's controlling the majority of the rallies.
She needs to make sure she doesn't even show Serena a break point.

She has done everything right in her power in that set.
Her first serve percentage is in the sixties, she is usually in the fifties on average.
She went for the down the backhand a few times which is flatter.
Serena was not able to come to net to volley on any slice.
She came to the net and didn't win the points but she made the effort.

She controlled more rallies than Serena.
She did Serena give a break point chance but she was already up two breaks.

That's how you take it to Serena.
She did not expect Justine to step up her game this way and Justine has come out with a gameplan something some players have mentioned she lacks.

Serena had a break point in the second game of the match.

And Serena has had some at other times too but they have been taken away as fast as they were given.

I was responding to: "She did Serena give a break point chance but she was already up two breaks."

Justine played the first set in an amazing way. Serena was just crap for most of that set.

Justine is running after every ball this is fantastic defensive playing against one of the best offensive players out there! And Serena is fighting her way all the time its 4-4 and its so tight now! Its so great I'm definitely downloading this match!

Simplicity.

Serena just looks tired. Im not surprised, shes played a lot and may not be in the best of shape considering her huge layoff last year.

Allez Justine its amazing how she is playing!!! Poor Serena she hit a backhand straight to the ground. :( But I think Serena can play better for some reason Justine is just owning Serena now. I think Serena is more surprised and frustrated than anything else, Justine just stepped it up!

lol I'm a Justine fan, but Justine doesn't even need to play that well. Serena is surviving now purely on her fighting. Her game is totally off today. Justine should've already finished the 2nd set.

Nope.
She didn't keep up her game against Serena and she paid for it in the second set.
She went from unbelieveable to just satisfactory and that won't beat Serena.

I was one point away from saying that I thought Justine was ready to win Wimbledon now but I'm again starting not to believe.

Don't know if it was her best, she played very well indeed, but Serena didn't bring a single ball back.

Richard Williams himself said that Justine was playing unbelieveable in that first set.
I'm going to have to agree with him because he saw the things that I saw in that set.

Richard usually never complements his daughters' opponents play, so if he says JH played well she musta

To be fair though, it was that fall that shook her up and probably helped to give away the second set and let Serena back in the match.

But in that first set Serena's footwork was so not good. The pace on her shots...

It was a great first set from Justine, though.. the new haven match against Kuznetsova was i think the best match i've ever seen her play on a hardcourt.

Anybody on tour could have beat Serena the first match and poorly as she played but, Justine was awesome.

I have to agree. Justine played an amazing first set. She was hitting spectacular shots and Serena wasn't able to react to them. But also, Serena was hitting some really bad errors and TERRIBLE footwork. But all the credit should go to Justine in that set. She played some amazing tennis.

It was one of the better sets she's played considering the opponent, but I'd still say her 6-0 final set over Kuznetsova in Dubai was the best I've ever seen her play anywhere period. The first set with Serena was closer than it looked, with many games going to deuce...Justine played the big points better. That role was reversed by the final set.

To be fair though, it was that fall that shook her up and probably helped to give away the second set and let Serena back in the match.

To be fair, she put herself in that position by not staying with the gameplan.
Her first serve percentage went down in the second set.
She wasn't dictating as much.
She didn't go for the down the line backhand which is a flatter shot and helps to open up the court.
Her slices weren't as low and Serena found herself getting to net on defensive slices.
Some of those have to deal with Serena stepping up her game.

Serena's return wasn't that much of a factor in this match though.
Serena didn't put much pressure on Justine's first serve yet the percentage went down.
She probably would have won this if she stayed a bit more steady on the serve but for some reason she almost always finds herself in the low to mid 50s on first serve.

Serena couldn't enter the match. For those who were wondering about Maria, and whether is she overrated.
Things happen all the time.
