Serena's is inconsistent, but the best when it's on.
Sveta's is most powerful.
Justine's also got a very underrated forehand.

My vote goes to Capriati.

Davenport for consistentcy and depth.
If Serena is on, her forehand return is the best in the game.

Sania Mirza's forehand is very good when its on!

Of course we have Serena and Mary ruling the list. Ivanovic's forehand looks good.

Dementieva's Forehand Return And Inside Out Shot

Thank you! I agree about Serena's forehand being inconsistent, although it's a great shot. :) Lena's forehand should be classified by the government as a Weapon of Mass Destruction. seriously.

You should replace Kirilenko, Lucic, Domachowska by PIERCE, Golovin and Hénin

I voted for SErena's because it has gained a lot of consistency.

If CApriati or Pierce were included, they have the best.

Dementieva's is awesome. Sharapova's and Venus's would be up there too if they weren't so inconsistent.

Justine's doesn't have enough power and if she went forehand to forehand with Dementieva, Serena, or Pierce they would all overpower her. Justine uses variety, placement, and sets up her points well to win on the forehand side. It is underrated though.

OMG Domashowska:lol: :haha: :haha:

Where is Henin?

I'd say Henin is better noted on the backhand side than the forehand.

Serena's forehand is lethal when it's on, and lately it's been on a LOT, especially on the returns. Her forehand return is absolutely deadly.

I'd say Henin is better noted on the backhand side than the forehand.

That's a very popular misconception. Henin's backhand is a technically perfect one-hander and is capable of a lot, but she uses it to open up the court for her forehand. At Wimbledon a couple years ago (maybe '03?) Mary, Mary Joe, and Pam were asked what the perfect combination of aspects would be to win Wimbledon, and they all agreed that Serena's backhand and Justine's forehand would be the perfect balance.

I can't believe Mary is not on this list, her forehand is legendry! But from the list I would go with Serena, although it can be off sometimes. Wierd, with club players, the forehand is almost always the strongest shot but with pro's it seems to be the side that is more likely to breakdown. Hmmm, very interesting. I shall I have to investigate and write a paper on the matter. Lol.

When Serena's forehand is on, it's amazing  :worship: But it can be very inconsistent at times.

Elena Dementieva's forehand and inside out forehand is amazing as well. But I love it on the run :hearts:

Kim Clijsters forehand can be really off alot but I like the way she hits, with a lot of wrist.

Nicole Vaidisova - Pure power.

Why is Mary Pierce not on the list? Or Justine? Justine's forehand is so underrated. People usually think of Justine's backhand but her forehand is brilliant, with so much spin! :worship:

That's a near perfect assessment of Justine's forehand. It is underrated because people assume that her only very good wing is her backhand. But I don't think it's better than her backhand. She can generate a lot of pace with her forehand, and will likely hit a lot of winners with it from sitters even from the baseline, but when powerful shots are directed at it, more often than not it comes up high and short. Her backhand on the other hand doesn't break down on powerful shots and it always has a lot of depth on it. With the immense variety she has with it, (she can hit it flat, slice, with top spin, angle, dtl.. you name it), I think it's still her best shot.

out of these players i have seen all of them play live apart from venus and lucic and i would say kuznetsova has the best forehand. i used to think dementieva did but sveta changes the spin on the ball on every stroke making it hard for her opponent to get into a rhythm-yes its inconsistent but so are most of the forehands listed.

petesz
Mar 31st, 2007, 04:42 AM
kidding me?

Serena can hit some amazing shots from forehand side, but most often it is the forehand that breaks down and cause errors.

So is Venus.
