I have always said, Amelie and Kim and Maria and whomever else was No 1 and winning Grand Slams in the absence of a healthy Justine and Serena, Jennifer were ALL pretenders and owe their slam success to the absence of much more talented and accomplished players.

Amelie is an all court player who playes senseless every where except Wimbledon for some reason, she couldnt/wouldnt have been number 1 all else being equal.
Maria's 1 dimensional game seems to have been exposed.
No guts Kim is still sleep walking through her last year on tour.
The Russions have made way for a new crops of even hungrier Eastern Europeans.
Im just glad to have a final being contested by worthy combatants.
Now if we could get Jennifer healed up and back on court it would truly be great!

Between Capriati and Kim is that Capriati won two more slams than Kim.
But even that Kim was not lucky because she had been in the finals of
Aus, Frech twice, US twice and won one.
Career wise Kim is much more better than Capriati even Mauresmo.
And you left Venus out in your stupid talk.
Mind you I am not Kim's fan but try to state facts here.

Injuries are a part of the sport. And no one is at their peak all the time.
The results are what they are.
Over the last 12 majors, 3 full years, no one has won more than 2 of 12.

Those players you mentioned won those tournaments because they were the best players that entered. You can yabber on about this person being sick and that person not performing their best but it will NEVER taint the victories those players achieved. We could just as easily hop on that bandwagon and say if Monica Seles had never been stabbed she would have become untouchable and Venus Serena and the rest would never have become the champions they are. Beginning to see how ridiculous your statement is??????

Justine has won a major in each of the last four years, dating back to her two wins in 2003, and one each in 2004, 2005, and 2006.

Stupid thread. Stop discrediting their Slam wins.
