:bounce: Good win Vee...I was a bit :scared: @ 4-0 in the first set, but :bigclap: you pulled it together!

Now onto Kirilenko! Keep movin' along Vee! But you gotta clean it up a bit. 40+ unforced and 7 double faults is a bit much :awww:

Was down 4-0 first set, came back from that.

A bit of a rusty start, but she should be okay for Kirilenko and potentially Sharapova.

Congrats Venus,

Venus is definitely a little rusty after having not played for several weeks.

With that said, I'm glad she just took her time and played into the match. It's obvious that this girl came out firing. She played in the qualifying rounds, so she was ready to go at it.

It was smart for Venus to take her time and not over play or play too hard because she has two weeks ta go.

Congrats

A little bit too many ues, but all in all, the stats are positively Venus like. She tends to 'bring it' against the elite so no worries.

ANybody else notice that the matches at Miami, esp the semis and finals tend to be the sloppiest ever? I wonder if the weather has something to do with it?

Venus has won lots of matches with much worse numbers, my friend. It's not necessarily how many unforced errors you commit, but when you commit them. Having said that, I agree with you that she does need to tighten up her strokes.

I don't like that picture! Venus is at her absolute best when she is displaying no emotion and absolutely stoic on the court. To me when she shows emotion it's because she's not 100% confident that she can pull things togther. Hopefully I am reading too much into it because I believe fully that if she has the right mindset, she'll be leaving Miami with some nice hardware.

Venus is back in miami!:D I have heard though that it was rough conditions out there. I mean she hit 42 errors, so the elements musti've been playing havoc a bit. Still, Venus sharp when she had to be. 6 aces, 28 winners, not too shabby;)
