Did you know that there hasn't been any US Open finals in 3 sets since the 1995 final between Graf and Seles:eek:??? Strange, since almost all the semifinals are incredible 3-setters:

1997
SF V. Williams def. Spirla 7-6, 4-6, 7-6

1998
SF Hingis def. Novotna 3-6, 6-1, 6-4

1999
SF S. Williams def. Davenport 6-4, 1-6, 6-4
SF Hingis def. V. Williams 6-1, 4-6, 6-3

2000
SF V. Williams def. Hingis 4-6, 6-3, 7-5

2002
SF V. Williams def. Mauresmo 6-3, 5-7, 6-4

2003
SF Henin-Hardenne def. Capriati 4-6, 7-5, 7-6

2004
SF Kuznetsova def. Davenport 1-6, 6-2, 6-4
SF Dementieva def. Capriati 6-0, 2-6, 7-6

2005
SF Pierce def. Dementieva 3-6, 6-2, 6-2
SF Clijsters def. Sharapova 6-2, 6-7, 6-3

2006
SF Henin-Hardenne def. Jankovic 4-6, 6-4, 6-0
SF Sharapova def. Mauresmo 6-0, 4-6, 6-0

So the last 7 US Open semifinals have been in 3 sets:yeah:, that's quite a streak!

I thought it was interesting fact about the US Open, and I have to say most of the finals have been quite one-sided:eek: (1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005)

It was a relief for Steffi. Not so much for Pam though.;) Imagine how long that match would have lasted in the pre-tiebreak era.

2001 was unbelievable for Venus. No one even took her to a 7-5 set.

Interesting, but Serena lost less games than Venus 29<36. So was it really so unbelievable. So did Lindsay 32 and Hingis 28
