Hingis benefited from a weak era though.

Oh please. She's beaten more top 10 players to win her Tier 1's than Kim has, and she's won TWO Tier one's since her comeback, making the final of two others. Just because Hingis didn't play Venus, Serena, Kim, or Justine at their peaks while she was in her prime doesn't mean her era was weak.

Venus spent alot of her dominant years playing tier 2s, she let serena play all the tier 1s, she probably would have alot more.
For some reason it looks like Kim has won a lot more.

The Williams sisters, Davenport, Capriati, Seles, Pierce... REALLY WEAK :weirdo:

Hingis was just a superb player in her top years. She outclassed a lot of her fellow competitors in those days. In winning two tier I's since her comeback, she has proven that she still has it.
Surprised to see that Amelie has already six tier I's!
Hasn't Dokic won a tier I, the Italian Open I believe?

And Moscow if I am not mistaken. So that makes it two.

i'm surprised that Venus only has 6 because she has alot more titles than Serena but I think she has alot of tier II but no credit taken from Hingis but she did win alot of those titles in a "weak" era only because all of the top players now that she can barely beat were just on the rise and all the top players like Graf Seles Sanchez-Vicario were on their way out so IMO she dominated in a some what of a transition period although she did hold on to it for a while with some great tennis I think if she hadnt started winning so young she wouldnt have as much success her career would be alot of what is is right now

Her career is "what it is right now" because she's 26, almost 27, and not nearly as good as she was in her prime. If Hingis from 1999/2000 were playing, she'd have won several more titles and probably been to at least a slam final.

CONGRATS TO MARTINA!!
SHE WORTH IT!
SHE HAS ALREADY WON 2 tier I ON A "NON WEAK AREA"!!!
SO STOP CRITICIZING!!!

Lol weak era, lol she has won already two tier Is since her comeback, so many other players havent' even won two tier I's in a year. Some people just can't accept that Hingis was and still is really a legend in her own right.

Anyway just to show you that it was not weak I will show you who she beat to gain those Tier Is:

Her first Tier I win is funny though:

Martina is seeded for all tournaments except 1 (also getting first round byes except in one), rank 21 in Rome 2006. She is seeded no less than 2 in all other tournaments that she won her Tier Is. In other words she performs well in throughout the year.

p.s. and she always gives bagels or breadsticks. very generous :)

That's the excuse this generation of tennis fans uses for their broke-down favs who will never approach tennis histories door like their predecessors.

Most of the Hingis win were over players just past, or not quite in their prime. Safina, Venus now, and Anna I are hardly top tier players. Her overall record is fine, but inflated.

What you all fail to realize is that what is the meaning of a Tier I title? Sure, Martina Hingis has won EVERY Tier I or Grand Slam title EXCEPT the French Open, but she isn't even considered amongst the greatest. Let's focus on who is racking up Grand Slams please. Screw a Tier I title.

Especially in the last few years there hasn^t been much difference between the competition in tier I and tier II tournaments, just the amount of money won.
