Well, maybe Nicole wants to defend her Strasbourg crown :)

Jelena aslo played there last year but she has a heavy schedule it seems.

I hope Venus goes to Istanbul :)

Venus should really play Rome instead of Istanbul, she even said after RG 05 that it took away some energy having to play in Istanbul then in a short space of time travelling to Paris and get herself mentally prepared and ready for a slam. LenaD is likely to play 3 red court events leading into RG :D

I don't think Mauresmo is playing AI And Charleston

If you read the whole post, the tournaments highlighted in blue are the tournaments that player has pulled out of.

On the Jankovic topic, she has nothing to defend and heaps of points to gain.

nice and steady preperation from justine:) , 2 tier 1's and a tier2. A week rest between miami and charleston, 2 weeks between charleston and warschau and 2 weeks between berlin and the french open. Play yourself into clay queen shape! :rocker2: (after winning miami:p )

She has nothing to defend, but she going to either burn herself out or get injured not a smart move on her part. Now that she's a more solid player she shouldn't have to play so many events.

Rome = prize money
Istanbul = prize money + appearance fee

Advantage, Istanbul.

Yes because she certainly needs the money :o. When you Venus Williams and you have 16+ million alone from prize money and way way more for endorsments i think that you forget about appearance fee's

isn't instanbul doing some sort of gold racquet thingy. Like if you win it 3 times in some amount of years you get a gold racquet.

Venus may not NEED the money, but that doesn't mean she does not, or should not, WANT it. If she can make more for showing up at Istanbul than she can for winning Rome, why shouldn't she take it?

I'm a bit relieved Martina isn't playing Warsaw.

It would have been too many red-clay tournaments and I don't think she had such a great time last year. :help:

JJ has to realize that her ranking isn't going anywhere. Hopefully she won't play 5 or 6 more tournaments before RG but it's her choice.

CLAY IS COMING! Top players' clay schedule!

Yaaaay!! Not. :p

Clay is so bizarre on WTA. I think there are always some great surprises each year as to who has a great clay season... and then I think some players are delusional when it comes to this season. They think they are good on clay but they're not as consistent as they'd like to think. Of course, you can always count on Justine to do well, Mauresmo... Serena if she's up to it...

I think I don't like clay because a lot of my faves don't do superb in this season. But it's the opposite on the men's tour, many of my faves do well... I like this season for ATP but not for WTA... none of my faves ever win the French

Anyway...if Jankovic does well in those 5 tournaments (4 on clay + Miami) she can really increase her ranking...

Venus choosed to play Istanbul and no Tier I, I wish this choice will give her lot of success also at RG, but I'm doubtful

I'm very worried Jankovic is going to burn herself out trying to build up a ranking... It hasn't caught up to her yet but it's likely... Remember when ppl said that ALG was gonna pay for overplaying? Different player of course, but still that's not a good path for any player who is doing well in most tournaments she enters.

seriously, Jelena is stupid. yeah yeah, it's her schedule and shit i know, but she's bound to get injured/exhausted and lose early at the french. i know she's got heaps of points to gain, but she's a good player and chances are she'll go deep in them. she just needs like 3-4 tourneys and she'll be ranked high. plus, she'll have sufficient rest.

04'- Charleston, Fed Cup, Warsaw, Berlin.

That year, venus didn't lose a match on clay

Jie Zheng, Tian Tian Sun may play Rabat

I like Jankovic's schedule.
None of yall complained when Justine came back after injury in 2005 to play Charleston, Warsaw, Berlin, and Roland Garros.
She played 24 matches on clay.

Jankovic doesn't even expect to play that many matches.
Unlike Justine she doesn't expect to win every clay tournament she plays in.
She'll be happy with a quarterfinals or a semifinals at these tournaments except Strasbough.
If she gets tired or feels a little strain coming on, she can always pull out of one or two.
Sometimes it's easier to pull out of a tournament than be a late entry.

So she might be playing 14 out of 16 weeks, Dubai, Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, Amelia Island, Charleston, 2 week break (is she playing FED Cup?), Warsaw, Berlin, Rome, Strasbough, Roland Garros, grass tuneup Tier III, she's a hard worker and she needs match experience to continue grow as a tennis player.
