During Indian Wells they didn' show any womens matches. With the draw the way it is do you think they'll show 3rd round and other early round matches?

Without them I don't think Venus/Maria will get shown anywhere in the US

If they don't show Venus/Maria then that will make them very very stupid. I don't have TTC. I wish I did. I can't believe they only showed men's matches during IW.

The ATP paid The Tennis Channel to broadcast their Masters Series webcasts during Indian Wells. If the WTA Tour wants more of their product shown on TTC, they need to show TTC the money.

whoa.. the tours have to pay ttc to air the tournaments? In that case ttc should just air the womens matches tape-delayed or something.. considering they can technically show tennis 24/7 without restrictions

The whole thing doesn't sound right to me. I'm sure TTC would have plenty of ratings if they show a potential Sharapova/Venus matchup. It would be a smart business move to air it.

I think TTC will show only the women this time around and ESPN is showing the Men. There tournment guide says they are showing women and Espn is showing the men

I assume so. For Indian Wells they made sure to specify it was just ATP. For Miami they are just saying coverage starts Saturday

That is terrible Legion Argentina. Luckily here we have Eurosport which is pretty dedicated to WTA tournaments. Can't you receive or subscribe to any of tennis coverage on Argentinian cable channels?

They should change their name to the ATP Channel or start showing both equally.

anybody remember what TTC showed last year in miami?

i'm hoping they'll show both atp and wta but i doubt it. if TTC didn't show the women last week, why would they show them this week. and indian wells is in TTC's backyard. don't think they'll fly anyone to miami.

wouldn't TTC have to pay the WTA for the rights to show the match?

When's the first day of the tournament?

I'm assuming they will show TTC sunday and monday, because their coverage starts sunday at 11:30 pm.

TSN is also showing the French Open from what must be The Tennis Channel too.

(Raise hands...)
In Taiwan, we only get to see THREE grand slams, excluding French Open, which is too expensive for our sport channel. duh.
Star sport Taiwan sucks. They don't even broadcast women's YEC.:help:

So the match should take place on Sunday, if they both get there and I've done my calculations right.

Looks like TTC will have it for us. :D

sony ericcson is the sponsor of the tournament and also of the wta so is not hard to think that one of the conditions of the coverage contract is show atp AND wta matches, but dont believe me its just a supposition;)

not that this should be the ultimate factor, but there was a ad link on the atptennis.com website for masters series tv for miami, and there were pictures of nadal and hingis on the link... it leads me to believe that perhaps they will have women's coverage...

The ATP didn't pay TTC to show men's matches - it's TTC and ESPN that paid the ATP to show the IW matches. TTC and ESPN decided (or more accurately, ESPN decided, since he who has the gold rules) which of them would show which matches. Apparently ESPN in its wisdom decided that the early round women's matches wouldn't be ratings/revenue grabbers (since so many of the top women weren't at IW). They probably assumed that Sharapova would make it to the QF's so thought they would be safe in showing QF, SF and F women's matches.

Um you better look again. their is NO mention of any semifinal coverage for the wta side that i see. looks like the ladies get totally cut off after qf coverage.
espn of course will show both mens semis. the RATS!
this is so typical. more coverage then ever for Miami. yet no semi coverage for the ladies. pretty F up!
