View Full Version : You knew it was coming!!!! SERENA vs. BAMMER!!!!

If they both get to this point.. I have never seen Bammer play.. well I have but I don't remember... what is her game like?

Wannabeknowitall
Mar 20th, 2007, 12:32 AM
She's playing her best but to not enjoy that momentum by being a seeded player as she should at this tournament isn't going to help.

Her draw is tougher than it should be and she would have never played Serena in the third round as a seed.
I think any player would be dissapointed to not finally see their results shown in a draw that they have earned.
I think she'll give her best attempt but it won't be enough.

Bam Bam's a feisty player.
She doesn't beat herself, well not anymore.
Think a lefty Nathalie Dechy with better movement, more variety, a better backhand, and a little more umph to her shots and you have Bam Bam.

Serena is not losing to Bammer that early in this event. She doesn't like losing to the same player twice in a row. If Serena is playing well she will destroy Bammer. I'm sure many people wish Bammer would win but let's think here.

I actually think that Serena and Bammer should both make it to the Third Round. Bammer has a tough task in beating Lucie but I think she can do it. Serena should make it to the Third Round quite comfortably. I pick Serena to win this one.

Saw Bammer play last week and she really makes opponents work for every point. Thought she really should have beaten Kuz but lapses in concentration cost her dearly. Serena should beat her but "should" and "will" are different things!

Serena is going to win with all the confidence she should have compared to the beginning of the year. It seems like Bammer has the type of game to give her a tough match though, so im sure it will be a fun match to watch!!

Serena likes revenge  She says vengance is for God, but she knows she likes paying people back. :yeah:

And if a rusty Rena was up a break in the 3rd set, a rejuvinated fired up, AO WINNING Rena, should dust her ;) :hearts:

Why have so many people voted for Bammer!?

You really don't know why?

You have to consider at least half of them as wishful thinking as oppossed to genuine opinion.

If this was a public poll, she wouldn't have nearly as many votes, because people would be more concern about not looking like idiots then hoping Serena would lose.

In the "Who is the best?" threads most people vote for their favourite. I guess those people must be idiots too?

Well IF it does happen (and that's a big if, cause safarova could very well win against bammer & this match up wouldn't happen), I would pick Serena, there is no way that she will let Bammer win again (even if she has to win it in 3 tie break sets). but who knows.

Hardly an adequate example considering it's a poll that came out BEFORE the draw. I wonder what the results would be now.

And anyway it's certainly, imo, more likely that Venus would win than Bammer beating Serena AGAIN. Hey, but maybe that's just me.

And? Especially since it came out before the draw... that makes the whole prediction even more stupid. At any rate... there've been tons of other polls.

And anyway it's certainly, imo, more likely that Venus would win than Bammer beating Serena AGAIN. Hey, but maybe that's just me.I didn't say it was less likely. I said that people in polls here often vote for their favourites.

So all these Bammer votes are from Bammer faves??! :haha:  Please!

The point I make, and it still holds true, is that people are voting more AGAINST Serena than FOR Bammer. And just because it's done elsewhere doesn't make it any smarter.

Your previous example might have been more appropriate if you picked another example other than Venus- former #1, 3-time winner and multiple grandslam champion- Williams. Venus is certainly more capable of winning this tournament than Bammer is of beating Serena again, IMHO.

The point I make, and it still holds true, is that people are voting more AGAINST Serena than FOR Bammer. And just because it's done elsewhere doesn't make it any smarter. So? Why can't people vote for Sybille? You don't actually know why there are so many votes for her. At any rate, your point that a lot of people vote for her because they dislike Serena holds about as much water as mine about people voting for Serena because they like her. It's a pointless poll because iot's unknown how either player will play so people can vote for who they want.

Your previous example might have been more appropriate if you picked another example other than Venus- former #1, 3-time winner and multiple grandslam champion- Williams. Venus is certainly more capable of winning this tournament than Bammer is of beating Serena again, IMHO.Sybille is capable of beating Serena. Again, I didn't say anything about Venus being more or less capable of winning it... if anything it's questionable to vote for her winning it after a win at a Tier III. Who knows what form she'll be in. I didn't say she couldn't do it. But most of her fans voted for the option of winning.

Serena shouldn't have even lost to Bammer in Hobart, wasn't she up a set and a break? I don't see her squandering such a lead in Miami. Bammer has a ridiculously hard draw as it is - Loit is no pushover, and then Safarova who's been playing great. Plus, she may experience a letdown after her superb Indian Wells. Serena beats any of them, I think.

It's not that tough of a draw.
She's a lefty.
Why would playing another lefty or two be a big deal?

Loit has been playing well but her game isn't made for medium pace hard courts like Bam Bam's and neither really is Lucie's game.
Bam Bam won against Lucie almost four years ago to win one of her ITF titles and backed it up on a faster court at San Diego last year.

She should be able to survive the lefty onslaught.

It's not that, I just think out of everyone to play in the first two rounds, she has it very tough. I mean, she could've played some Scrub WC in the first round and a seed like Muller or Kirilenko instead!

I think Serena would end it quickly in 2 sets, hitting winners left and right by using power and intimidation against Bammer.
On the other hand ,Safarova's strategy against Bammer would be completely different. Lucie will have to play a long 3 setter and try to wear down Bammer by not trying to end points quickly and letting Bammer get tired and choke eventually.

Serena hasn't played since the Australian Open. Bammer reached first Tier I SF last week and played a decent match against Kuznetsova.

I think Serena will win in straight sets but ya never know.

Serena thought everyone (press or whatever) was against her at the Australian Open, saying she was out of shape etc. and that obviously fired her up! Big time! But now everyone is expecting Serena to win everything, maybe the fire won't be there for Miami. Who knows?
