Who is going to reach the QF from this star-studded field?

My guess is Serena, if she shows the AO form that got her the title. Nevertheless, Venus and Maria when on are formidable opponents, so it could well be any of these 3 ladies.

I believe Venus will because she is able to withstand Serena´s game and I believe she´s moving better than Serena at the moment. The serve and movement will be key in that match.

Maria is a bit too vulnerable right now to beat V & S. Even if she was in good form I would still favor V & S in good form to beat her.

I vote Serena.

If she has the mentality she did in Australia, then I think she will be tough to stop

Little Masha will finally hit her stride and beat Venus, Big Masha, and Serena back to back!

Hopefully Serena of course.
But I think Venus to be honest. And that wouldn't totally suck.

Maria, Venus and Serena better play well.

I think Venus.

Maria will have to play so much better than she did last week and I just can't see her making that improvement that quickly. The scarey thing about last week is that it wasn't just the serve that fell apart but the groundstrokes too. She actually looked at times like she had forgotten how to play tennis.

Serena showed at the Australian Open that she is still capable of reaching the heights but she was certainly vunerable in the early rounds at the Aussie Open as well as in Hobart. It clearly takes Serena a while to get her game going. I suspect this is largely because I don't think she practices much when she isn't playing. The one danger for her is that having won the Australian Open will only have served to reinforce the belief that she can get away with only playing and practicing when she feels like it and build up her match fitness as a tournament progresses. With such a tough draw I'm not so sure she can this time.

However should Serena get through all the pitfalls near her and meet Venus in the 4th round I would still expect Venus to win. Venus has won all 4 matches the 2 of them have played earlier than the semifinals. Also if you take away that 1 and a half year stretch where Serena was unbeatable and defeated Venus 6 straight times the rest of their career Venus has won a large majority of their matches. 6 out of 7 infact, including the last two in 2005. Also Venus has played more recently than Serena and I rather think Venus takes staying in practice a little more seriously than does Serena.

I think Lucie has a chance. She likes quality opponents. Remember Paris? - Vaidisova, Kuznetsova, Henin - all in a row. And she knows she can play with Serena too ;)

Its really a tough section...
Serena-Venus-Sybille-Lucie all in good form...
even for Sharapova at the moment... she's still good enought to beat the top 20 players..

But I still think that Venus might come out of this section
if she meets up with Serena...
remember before/during AO...
she keeps saying that Venus has been destroying her in practice...
and I think that she has that in her mind once again...
that her biggest obstacle is non other than..
Venus Williams

Wow, only 10% of the voters believe the #1 seed and last year's runner-up can make it to the QF! Even given her recent slump in form, I think it's a little harsh on Masha.

Not really. The last time we all saw Venus and Serena on court they were playing better than Maria has lately.
