View Full Version : Possibility of subforums in GM?

I'm sick and tired swimming through countless:

polls (who is going to win: XX vs YY)

results threads (now every single match result is made into a thread; some are already writting a thread before the match is over and as soon as it ends they click submit)

not to meantion peak of XX vs peak of YY :fiery:

And not every single info about the players need to be posted in GM - that's why we have Players Forum

I think the results thread are fine, but I hate the who will win threads and peak threads. They are both clearly who do you like better stated differently.

i like the idea of a separate polls and results sub-forum in GM (ideally all the results for a tournament could goin the respective touranment forum but very few people go to these....)

I don't see a need for it. If I see something I am annoyed by then I ignore it. Simple. Results threads are fine, who will win polls are fine. The peak... vs peak... threads are controversial but can be ignored.

You could essentially relegate any thread here to some other part of the board :p

No needs to post #95 def. # 74 6-4 6-1 in 1st round of a Tier IV. These results are annoying.

But finals, semis and quarters are okay. And upsets.

But now people just posts results of matches they don't even care, and he thread will get like 3 responses.

Peak vs Peak is SO annoying. I think each current or ex-top 10 faced each other in these polls:tape: Who cares about Peak Graf vs Peak Vaidisova?

And after every surprise winner, there is 100 threads about rankings potential, GS potential, etc. Maybe one discussion about tha player is okay but 100? No.

And also the polls "Who's gonna win : Henin vs Schaul. It doesn't deserve a thread. Justine will destroys Schaul. Henin vs Serena, let's make a poll. But #1 vs #1 doesn'tworth it

Just suspend all the fans of the winning player for a week after the final….then there won’t be all the mass celebration threads….so say Justine wins Miami….all her fans are suspended for that week and so on with the next final the following week….easy....

The best thing would be to disable vcash :worship: (or at least get it only for betting and not because of posts/threads)

Subforums in subforums, that's crazy.
Peak vs peak will naturally sink if there's no interest for people to discuss it. And the trend will die eventually.
And I'm sorry, but I really can't recall any #100+ vs. #200+ threads.

Well - that tells me there's still a lot that is good to put in GM.

Incidentally - I do think gossip threads - the Chris Evert & Greg Norman should be here - even if it is old news. I also think info on the draw and on who is seeded and playing in a forthcoming tournament is fine to put in GM even though there is a tournament thread.

The only thing that annoys me about the Results threads is the duplication of these threads for the same match.

I was wondering how this could be stopped. Some system whereby if you post the results of a match you have to click somewhere on that match which opens a thread for you and you insert the result for the title. If that match has already been clicked on by someone you don't get to create the thread but get redirected to the thread already opened for that match. If you try and buck the system and post a result any other way by just creating a normal thread - it gets deleted.

I'm really sorry your life is so hard. If there is a thread you aren't interested in you don't have to read it. There are plenty of threads in the general topics that aren't of interest to me. Thats fine, if they are of interest to others I am happy to have them around. I would much rather there were too many threads being created than not enough. Without threads there is no forum.

If something as minor as a few threads that don't appeal to you makes you "sick and tired" I can only conclude that you are a very easily annoyed person. I suspect even me suggesting as much is probably enough to annoy you. You must be alot of fun to have around. Sugestion: live and let live. Let others be and give up trying to control what is not your right to control.

I say LET IT BE. There will ALWAYS be some new fad coming along that will annoy some people just as much as the current fad of Peak vs Peak annoys now. And then what: more subforums? Please.

Read what you like and ignore the rest. I don't see what the big deal is; it's not as if these (admittedly tiresome) threads are taking the place of something really worthwhile that would otherwise be available on GM. :cuckoo:

no GM is fine the way it is.

putting it into sub-forums will just over-complicate things.

Its a general tennis forum, so people can post anything they want about tennis, thats what it is!

If you dont like the peak vs peak threads, or results threads then you dont have to go into them, just ignore them, if it means you have to look at 2 pages of new threads instead of just 1 then so be it.
