Hi again!:wavey:
so the draw has been released already! Needless to say, as this is the third Tier I event of the season (and the second one Tati's taken part in), the field's pretty strong there - only two girls out of the top 20 are missing (Amelie and LenaD). Tati's in the bottom half of the spider once again, this time as the no.17 seed, which means she has bye in the first round, in the second round she's gonna meet either Iroda Tulyaganova (the current world's no.129) or a qualifier. This match will most probably take place on Saturday, however, as soon as I'm sure about the date I'll let you know.

you can check the draw here:
http://www.sonyericssonwtatour.com/3/global/includes/TrackIt.asp?file=http://www.sonyericssonwtatour.com/2/global/Pdfs/events/2007/miami_draws.pdf

All in all, it definitely won't be easy for Tati but I think it's sort of appropriate to her ranking, all we can do is only wish her the best of luck.
What do u people think?:)

Thanks for this good organization :) :yeah:
I'm very pleased to see that Tati is (finally) playing doubles. Safina should be a great partner and hopefully, they will have a decent tournament.

I hope that she will be able to defeat Kim twice ;) ! Good luck Tati, a QF is really possible !

Well, Tati's first (but second round;)) opponent is the qualifier Tatiana Poutchek of Belarus (currently no. 111 in the world), who defeated Iroda Tulyaganova 0-6,6-3 Ret.

The match takes place today (which is Friday, March 23;)) and is scheduled as the third one on the court no.1, which means it will probably start at about 2:00 PM Florida time (or 7:00 PM CET).

She won 6-1 7-6(8)
She served for the match at 5-4 and was down 0-5 in the TB  but she fought, saved SP and won..
Hopefully this victory and this TB will give her some confidence after this bad match against Bammer (even if she didn't play that well according to the stats)
In the next round she'll probably meet Chakvetadze

To be honest, I really did not know how to start this report for some time and my feelings are still more or less bittersweet. The sweet part is that Tati successfully passed her 2nd round 'test' and goes to the next round, which is, obviously, the most important fact as far as the match is concerned. On the other hand, I think that very few of us expected such a bitter struggle, especially in the second set. But let me give you the basic facts first -
the final score is 6-1, 7-6(8), elapsed time 01:32:31.

Tati started off very well, she held her first service game (and the very first game of the match) with an ace. Then she took advantage of Poutchek's 2 DFs in the next game and broke her serve and confirmed the break immediately afterwards, which gave her a comfortable (and very early) 3-0 lead.
Poutchek managed to regroup a bit in the following game and took a 30-0 lead, however Tati came back and broke her serve in the end, which she confirmed immediately afterwards once again, though after some struggle that included saving 3 BPs this time. 5-0!:) However, from that point on Poutchek seemed to be gradually stepping up her game, which she confirmed by holding her first service game in the match (5-1;)), anyway, it was too late for her to stop Tati from winning the first set 6-1 in about half an hour.:)

The beginning of the second set did not suggest any drama either, Tati managed to break Poutchek's serve right off and took an early lead 1-0, moreover, she held her following service game to love and thus confirmed the break. Nevertheless, as I have already mentioned, Poutchek was gradually stepping up her game, whereas Tati seemed to be losing her grip, which the Belarussian took advantage of and held her serve. Some dramatic moments ensued in the following game, when Tati held from 0-40, however, the worst part was still to come. In the beginning Tati broke once again to 4-1, but she got broken in return immediatelly afterwards and after some fierce struggle (4 deuces) missed a chance to break Poutchek. That seemed to have a psychological impact on Tati, which resulted in losing her serve and letting the Belarussian to come back from 1-4 to 4-4. In the following games the players broke each other's serves first (5-5), then Poutchek held her serve and took a 6-5 lead, but Tati held too and the match ended up in a TB.:o
The beginning of it was really chilling, Tati soon finding herself 0-5 down:eek: ,however she somehow managed to recollect her fighting spirit and after a fierce struggle (wasting a MP en route, but also saving SPs) won the match 10-8 in a TB of the second set.

Generally speaking, Tati's performance was pretty unbalanced tonight, from what looked like bagel in the first to the TB thriller in the second set. I think the major problem is that Tati somewhat lacks this killer mentality, which is necessary for finishing easy matches and chokes instead. On the other hand I do appreciate her ability to recollect her spirit when she is down, which won the TB for her tonight.

OK, what do u people think?:wavey: Opinions, comments, everything's most welcome!:)
And sorry for posting this so late, I got stuck with my first article and lost it completely so this is like the second one I've written tonight:rolleyes:

Due to the yesterday's rain there are some extensive changes in the schedule of play, as for Tati, she plays her 3rd round match against Chakvetadze on the court no.7 in about two hours, then she's got to move to court no.3 where she plays her 1st round doubles match (w/Safina). This match is scheduled as the fourth one which means it will start at about 3:00 PM Miami time (or 9:00 PM CET). So best of luck Tati and go girls!!!:bounce: :bounce:

While I did not know how to start my report last time, this time it is actually very simple. This match was one of the sort the player should forget about as soon as possible, because there was actually nothing to learn from. But let me give you the match statistics first:
Tati lost to Anna 1-6, 3-6 in less than 75 minutes.
another statistics: Tati x Anna
aces: 2 5
double faults: 7 4
1st serve% 59 58
1st/2nd serve points won% 54/27 69/40
BPs saved% 54 71
1st/2nd return points won% 31/60 46/73
BPs won% 29 46

Well, we all know that Tati has had problems with her serve since the beginning of the season and it is obvious that her serve let her down today once again. The 2 aces are fine (though she can definitely do better), but what really strikes the eye are these 7 DFs; it is obvious she is aware of her lame serve and tries hard to get over it, but it did not work today and ended up in a frustration. Another alarming statistics is the 1st/2nd serve winning percentage (54/27%!), which only adds to what was said above.
But, what really surprised me today were her problems with returning Anna's serve and getting points from it. I mean Anna Chakvetadze is certainly not a player with the most formidable serve, anyway, she scored 5 aces and won almost 70% of her 1st serve points, which is again somewhat surprising...
Overall, I just hope Tati forgets this match very soon and focuses on the tournaments to come.
And do not forget that she plays the doubles too which hopefully helps her to get over this loss psychologically!!!:bounce:

Well, we all know that Tati and Dinara won their 1st round doubles match yesterday, today they play their 2nd round match against Schiavone (ITA)/Morariu (USA). The match is scheduled as the fourth one on the court no.6, however, since the weather has been pretty unpredictable recently, I don't give any estimates concerning the beginning of the match this time.
So go girls, we wanna see you in quarterfinals!!!:bounce:

Well, our Safilovin (or Safovin) team won once again, this time dispatching their 2nd round opponents Corina Morariu (USA)/Francesca Schiavone (ITA) 6-3, 6-4 in nearly 75 minutes of play. From the match statistics it seems the match was one of the ordinary ones, anyway, what matters is the result that earned the girls a place in quarterfinals where they got to face the second seeded Cara Black (ZIM)/ Liezel Huber (RSA), so best of luck girls, you're gonna need it!!!:bounce: :bounce:
