Fed Cup 2007~|Naomi|~ Mar 17th, 2007, 10:10 AM When is the team for the tie against Slovak Republis announced? Good Luck girls, 2007 is the year for breaking into the World Group I:D Wiggly Mar 17th, 2007, 03:45 PM I don't know, something like in April. Sometimes we get a Czech article (Idnes) about the team because they need to cut down some girls. Nicole and Lucie are in 100%. Others? Girls like Klara, Iveta, Kveta even Barbora are doubtful. Will Birnevora and Ondraskova be on the team? My prediction is : Nicole Lucie and Eva/Iveta/Barbora. Slovakia is goign to be tought if Daniela is playing. If Daniela loses any of her singles, it's over (Nicole and Lucie shold destroys Slovakia #2.). Key match is Nicole vs Daniela. ~|Naomi|~ Mar 17th, 2007, 11:16 PM I think the Czechs have the upper hand slightly because Lucie is much stronger than the Slovak number 2. But if Daniela wins both her singles then it will be tough for the Czechs as they don't have a great doubles record and Daniela is very experienced in doubles. But Nicole has a very good record against her & I definitely think Lucie has a shot against Daniela if she is on. I think it is going to be a very exciting tie - I just wish I could see it:p I think it will probably end 3-2 either way. Vaidisova Mar 20th, 2007, 01:50 PM New article: Seems like Nicole's stepfather/coach will be the captain? http://sport.idnes.cz/fedcupovym-kapitanem-by-mohl-byt-kodat-dyn-/tenis.asp?c=A070320_103001_tenis_ot Eurosport France: RTC : Kodat capitaine ? This will be on clay, no? That's arguably Hantuchova's worst surface, which should give the Czechs some advantage. Wiggly Mar 21st, 2007, 12:35 AM Tomas Petera is not the captain anymore. He works for an organisation who wants Prague hosting Olympic games. So maybe Kodat will be the captain. Sharapova's_Boy Mar 21st, 2007, 01:55 AM LOL. Kodat the Czech captain?!? Of course Nikki and Lucie are going to play singles. The key for the Czechs is doubles. The last two years they lost the World Group I Play-Off in a deciding doubles match. (2006 2-3 FRA, 2005 2-3 ITA). Lucie Hradecka has been having great results in doubles. Perhaps she should be considered. Yellow Moon Mar 21st, 2007, 04:13 PM It may also be time to put up some young rookies like Cetkovska and maybe Hlavackova: they are very good dblz players who will go the lenght to prove themselves in a national tournament. Unlike other Czech WTA girls that have alienated themselves from the team effors by running the "girls on tour" rat race for too long... SloKid Mar 21st, 2007, 04:18 PM Lucie Hradecka has been having great results in doubles. Perhaps she should be considered. Well not only is she having great results, she's been having them with a fellow Czech, Voracova, maybe they could be called up as they are already a team and play together well. They got to the semis last week in IW losing to the eventual winners Raymond/Stosur. They also won a title last year in Portoroz together (although they won their semi via a retirement and the final via a walkover :o), I was there and watched them play and they are a solid team. Farina Elia Fan Mar 25th, 2007, 01:36 AM If doubles is the key - you have to go with the specialist in Peschke Sharapova's_Boy Mar 25th, 2007, 02:40 AM If doubles is the key - you have to go with the specialist in Peschke Kveta played in 2005 with Nicole, and last year with Iveta, and lost both times. :( Wiggly Mar 25th, 2007, 02:32 PM Kveta played in 2005 with Nicole, and last year with Iveta, and lost both times. :( Last year, Iveta choked the Doubles sooooo bad, it was a-w-f-u-l. But still, Kveta kinda ruined the Tie against Italy, back in 2005.:tape: Sharapova's_Boy Mar 26th, 2007, 01:09 AM Last year, Iveta choked the Doubles sooooo bad, it was a-w-f-u-l. But still, Kveta kinda ruined the Tie against Italy, back in 2005.:tape: Iveta really doesn't play that well in Fed Cup. I remember her losing to Viratprasert in a WGII Play-Off. :help: I'd like to see some new faces in the team. Strycova is a good doubles player, Hradecka and Voracova have been having good results together. Perhaps even some juniors like Vankova or Kvitova. Just anything so that they don't lose another deciding doubles match. :( Lunaris Mar 26th, 2007, 07:42 AM I think it depends more on Daniela's singles because I see both Lucie and Nicole thrashing slovak No.2 be it either Cibulkova or Rybarikova. If Daniela can win both of her singles (which I hope but doubt :o ) let the doubles decide. Although you never know what to expect on clay. Wiggly Mar 26th, 2007, 12:58 PM I tought it was Hard courts. I think on clay Nicole has the edge against Daniela and she never lost a set against her. Even Lucie will have a good shot against Danka on clay. Whenever someone beats Daniela, it's over. The Doubles, I don't know what they're gonna do, they always try Benesova/Peschke or Benesova/Strycova. But they needs to change that. Lunaris Mar 26th, 2007, 10:39 PM Daniela probably wouldn't play on hard-courts. She takes it more as a preparation for the upcoming claycourt season. Wiggly Mar 27th, 2007, 10:26 PM Nicole's daddy is now officialy the captain. He seems to have decided Lucie and Nicole will play. And he will decide between : Kodat už má jasno o širší nominaci, v níž semifinalistku Australian Open Vaidišovou a čtvrtfinalistku úvodního grandslamu sezony Lucii Šafářovou doplňují Eva Birnerová, Iveta Benešová, Květa Peschkeová a Barbora Záhlavová-Strýcová. Zúžení na konečnou čtveřici přijde po turnaji v Miami. http://sport.idnes.cz/kodat-povede-ceske-tenistky-ve-fed-cupu-d94-/tenis.asp?c=A070327_145510_tenis_rou Vaidisova Mar 29th, 2007, 11:49 PM Daniela Hantuchova will lead Slovakia in their Fed Cup encounter with Czech Republic next month. "Other members of our team will be Dominika Cibulkova, Janette Husarova and Magdalena Rybarikova. http://www.sportinglife.com/tennis/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=international_feed/07/03/28/TENNIS_Svk-Slovakia_Fed_Cup.html Sharapova's_Boy Mar 30th, 2007, 04:28 AM The Slovaks will be tough to beat in doubles with Hantuchova and Husarova. I guess they will announce this week or when Kodat comes back in Czech Republic. davidmario Apr 8th, 2007, 12:25 AM I think he should pick Peschke for doubles. Strycova is a great player in doubles also. But Peschke/Benesova had great success together. btw, her name is not Peschkeová ! It's a german name. Wiggly Apr 8th, 2007, 12:38 AM I think he should pick Peschke for doubles. Strycova is a great player in doubles also. But Peschke/Benesova had great success together. btw, her name is not Peschkeová ! It's a german name. They always add ova. sometimes it's even Peschkeovou. I agree Kveta and Iveta were great. But in France they sucked (Iveta:help:) and they didn't seemed to have the chemistry they had. I don't think they will try Juniors there because if they loose it's another year to wait until WGI. I don't think they will go with Doubles specialist like Navratilova or Uhlirova because if Lucie or Nicole lis injuried, there is no way they are going to beat Daniela or even Cibulkova. Kveta hasn't play Singles this year. In my oponion they will pick Nicole, Lucie, Iveta (or Kveta) and Barbora. Because it's a young team who likes each others (they're all "friends"). And they can play Singles and Doubles. But Iveta sucked 2 straight times last year so she might be out of the team. And they won't put Lucie in Doubles and neither Nicole/Barbora. So they will put Kveta. davidmario Apr 8th, 2007, 02:19 AM They always add ova. sometimes it's even Peschkeovou. I agree Kveta and Iveta were great. Probably Kveta. davidmario Apr 10th, 2007, 10:00 PM So Iveta and Barbora play doubles. Nicole and Luci just can't volley. Derek. Apr 10th, 2007, 11:21 PM I love Daniela, but if Nicole and Lucie are in decent form, they'll beat her on red clay without too many problems. Singles is really crucial for the Czechs, because the Slovaks probably would win the doubles. Lunaris Apr 10th, 2007, 11:54 PM I wouldn't underestimate Daniela, especially after todays Nicole's loss. And to say Lucie will beat her easily is similar to Matt Croning's prediciton about Golovin. Mathijs Apr 11th, 2007, 12:24 PM Nice team, the match can go all directions, but i hope on a Czech win... I wouldn't say that Lucie can't volley, the last time i was in Rosmalen (back in 2005) she did well at the net partnering Koukalova.... SloKid Apr 11th, 2007, 12:29 PM OFFICIAL TEAM Nicole, Lucie, Iveta and Barbora. Nicole lost to Krajicek last night and hasn't been in too good a form, hopefully she'll be ready for Fed Cup. I wonder in what form Lucie will show up as well. With Iveta's Fed Cup record in recent years, she's obviously a risky pick, but seeing how she'll probably only play doubles, it's not really important, esp. since the tie could likely be decided by then. Sharapova's_Boy Apr 12th, 2007, 11:14 AM Not really surprised by the team. Still not too keen on Iveta playing a deciding doubles match with Barbora. Last year @ the AO I saw Barbora and Nikki play really well against Hantuchova/Sugiyama. Nicole isn't as bad at doubles as everyone thinks. But, again, it's crucial for the Czechs to have wrapped up the tie before the doubles. Wiggly Apr 12th, 2007, 08:56 PM If Nicole is 2-0 in Singles, she will play Doubles.
