it's a matter of perception, i suppose :p serbians, croatians and macedonians certainly look more south european than norwegians, swedes or finns :p which is a good thing, mind

she definetly has a darker, more olive complexion than northern europeans. i know not all serbians, croatians and macedonias have this complexion, but alot of them do. just look at this photo
http://www.anaivanovic.com/image.php?file=pictures/news/647/ana_portrait1_015194_ret3.jpg&width=350&scale=aspect_ratio
its nothing bad, heck its something to proud of, i wish had that kind of complexion.

I know the girl... I've seen her like zillion times! She ain't that dark! That's more about the photo, the light, the make-up, than to her skin. And by the way that pic is seriosly photo-shope... And you are aware that she is playing the most of the season outdoors... Training as well. So just people with skin problems don't get darker...

A lot of us do? You know that's interesting... I live here, and I didn't noticed it, but you did :spit: We do not :) Sorry ;) But if you wanna, we could do something about that :p

being an outsider has its advantages...

aussie12

being an outsider has its advantages...

exactly, luka you may not notice it because you live there. for example i have been told by an asian that to them we all look similiar, but for me we all look completely different. while most white australians would think asians look similiar but to them they look completely different. i have seen croatians (my cousin is croatian), serbians and macedonians at school and at the tennis and they have always had an olive complexion. you seem to look at things differently when your an outsider

sam stosur, nicole pratt etc. all play most of the year outside and they dont have a dark complextion. far from it. and most media reports about ana in australia always have the description 'dark looks'. im not saying serbians are the same darkness or whatever as indians but you definetely have skin that tans better. alot of northern europeans skin just turns pink when they are out in the sun while southern europeans tan.

I knew it was her dad as I saw his pic before. Never seen pics of Byrnes, though.

Great pics from GC. She does have dark complexion, characteristic for southern Europeans.

I am born there and I am darker than her where I am often confused for latino or greek but Ana isn't really that dark. Her skin is fair and her hair is dark . She is only dark compared to pale northerners who never get a tan :wavey:

Thats an awesome coat in the pics and she looks awesome.

And yes she does have an Olive complection as do a lot of people from that part of the world. It's in her blood don't forget about the Ottoman Empire which ruled Serbia for very long time.

Look at Mario Ancic he's someone I consider pretty dark and he's from the same region though Mario is Croation.

Serbian people didn't mix with Turks so there can be no blood relations. Those who did became muslims immediatelly.

ive always said she is dark compared to northern europeans, im not saying shes black.
btw, heres a map according to skin colour before immigration etc. see they have serbia the same as italy & greece. which i belive it is

anyway this conversation is getting annoying, so lets all agree she is just beautiful.

LOL ur kidding right? Of course Serbians mixed with the Turks. They ruled for many many years. Not all of those that did have sex with Turkish men did become Muslim. Ana didn't get an olive complection from just being pure Serbian.

You almost make it sound like it's a bad thing. Her skin color is beautiful period and it def came from somewhere.

there are definitelly more blonde and lighter people per capita in serbia than greece and italy let alone turkey and middle east . I know, I've been there . I've looked up pics from my town subotica and most people are very light skinned and many blondes with few instances of darker skinned people

Turks are not olive skinned people, they are pale and dark and of course Ana nor any Serb has any connection with them  During ottoman occupation we lived apart completelly but turks had this way of stealing babies and making turks out of them for their wars among other things.
And yes all that have relations with turks became muslims and allied with turks , that's one of the reasons why we have problems with muslims to this day . That is when turks were expelled in Serbian liberation wars in 19th and early 20th century they left behind almost all of the muslims behind them

You almost make it sound like it's a bad thing. Her skin color is beautiful period and it def came from somewhere.

Her skin is beautiful but it has nothing to do with the turks as you put it. It's more likely to do with greeks or romans or just the sunny weather :tape:

Then why do you keep telling us your scary little fantasies? :sobbing:Here's a better question:Why are you whining like a pathetic crybaby??If you consider giving Ana a kiss some sort of perversion, then you DESPERATELY need to get a grip on reality. You can see MUCH worse comments from other people on this site so it's hard to understand why you're so "scared".:rolleyes:You're extremely lucky that you don't live in a country that is plagued by war or you would REALLY be a mess if this forum is too difficult for you to handle...I'm not going to waste another second responding to you since this thread is designed for Ana's admirers' photos...go talk to yourself and see if you can come up with any more genius-level analysis.

It's all very nice that you think Ana is a great looking girl. But not everybody wants to hear about your constant drooling over players and what you would like to do with them. :o This board has no age restriction so some of your posts are way out of the boundaries. As for the part about my country, you clearly don't know much about my country then. It's hardly like I'm the only one who is creeped out by your weird posts. I'll let you in on a little secret. This is a tennis forum. Just keep that in mind before you go off on one of your creepy little erotic stories.
And I apologize to the sane Ana fans for posting here.

'Alex',I used to have a supervisory job in your country's prison system before I moved back to Mexico, and I can tell you from first-hand observation that the pedophiles would become completely bent out of shape whenever the other inmates got even slightly aroused by an attractive woman on the dormitory TV.It makes me wonder if THIS guy is a stinking pedophile given his weird views that praising Ana's beauty is somehow unnatural or,in his words,"erotic".:rolleyes:Sick people are truly convinced that the rest of the world is crazy.:help:

Ok bruce that's enough!!!

Its one thing to throw childish insults at each but a completely different thing to accuse someone of such a criminal act, whether it be in the form of a joke or not coz there is nothing funny about it!

I hate this thread, and always have (its been like a year since a real fight here, good going guys ;)) but everyone has a right to there opinion.

If you accuse someone of things like that again i WILL be editing/deleting your posts coz that is completely inappropriate... Continue with your petty fighting but keep those remarks out of it!

This'll be concise...in post#2272 on page 152 of Ana's pictures thread, there is a carbon copy promotion of a quasi-pornographic site that appeared in other threads, too, such as Elena Dementieva's.Although I can't put myself on a pedestal,I sent a plaintive PM to a Dementieva moderator when these were first posted...wondering if this were truly appropriate for WTA World.Remarkably, not ONE self-righteous person complained about this porno site in Ana's thread--NOT ONE!!

NOW,somebody implies that it is some sort of sexual perversion to suggest that Ana is kissably beautiful--although they COMPLETELY ignore the promoted porno.Hopefully there's at least SOMEone with a pulse who can see why I find this monstrously hypocritical.I can't prove that it's some sort of racial prejudice against Mexicans, but HOW IN THE HELL can you account for this kind of imbalance???That's it...I've said my piece.

~lollipop_girl~
Mar 20th, 2008, 12:17 PM
You said your piece a long while ago

The fact is you don't know Ana and all you do is comment about wanting to kiss her and imagining that. That IS thinking of her in a sexual manner whether 'sex' is actually involved or not because the term 'sexual' has a very broad meaning... If it were pictures of some random girl and you were continuously saying that it can certainly be classed as sexual harassment and just because Ana is famous should not make it any different considering she is a tennis player not a porn star... NOW, before you think i am actually accusing you of sexual harassment, I'm not. All I am doing here is trying to help you understand the vast meaning behind thinking of someone in a sexual way and thus why others may have the opinion that your continuous talking about Ana in that manner may offend them or that they at least find it inappropriate.

I'm not asking you to get along with people or even like them but to be able to move on from this you need to compromise and try to understand their opinion as well so you can eventually find a common ground... If you look at everything as a personal attack and thus react with a personal attack of your own then you will get no where.

As for the post you mentioned, I have not noticed that and I'm going to check it now, but in future if you see something like that, use the report button, that's what its made for! (edit: that's been fixed up now)

Sorry that I didn't check their ages. Not in any mood to fight right now,and I was surprised to get this prompt in my e-mail.The guy who first started this scrap with me is a Brit drag queen who's envious of Ana's dresses. He has a British pal who's the same way yet flies an American flag for some reason(perhaps he lives in the States and chose to display his residence instead of his home country). They think it's weird that any guy would be attracted to Ana.To THEIR minds,THEY are the enlightened ones and heteros are strange:rolleyes::lol:...Anyhow,I worked in the U.S. prison system for years so I knew immediately that there was something off about that first guy.I had wondered if he was a pedophile but, fortunately,he's MUCH more harmless...he just wants to be a woman:lol:

I'll agree with you that it's a good idea on paper, but it's better if adults can work their problems out rationally...and THAT'S coming to you from one of the worst offenders(myself). In my moments of lucidity,I try to be respectful to everyone, though it's hard to break old habits. When I worked in the prison system around cold-blooded convicts,"F...k you" was like saying "Good morning".Sometimes I still forget how to talk with normal people.

this thread was created to remove some posts from ana pictures thread. it all started when someone said ana has "dark comlexion" which some people took as an insult, it seems  i don't understand why because i think that can be seen as a compliment, but soon enough there were dozens of posts about that. then a while later some poster started acting like a homophobic prick that he is in the same thread, so all posts related to that had to be moved here as well in order to keep ana's pictures thread clean. you know, when you go into that thread you want to see ana's pictures, not some homophobic bullshit. after that all fighting posts from anywhere in the forum were moved here.

How come I haven't seen this gem before?

:haha:

Can I be a hostess?Honestly,I might make people want to fight me soon because I think their approach to Ana has ZERO logic to it.If she doesn't have enough confidence to even be competitive with Julie Coin, then how will she have the confidence to face TOP players such as Elena,Safina or the Williams girls?...and what happens when she gets her ass kicked 6-1,6-1 by one of these tough girls?Where will her confidence be THEN?(this is assuming that Ana can even win enough matches to MEET one of these high seeds)She needs to find a sports counsellor like Navratilova did back when Evert OWNED her.Afterwards was when Martina went on her legendary run in the record books.Until Ana gets at least a TINY bit of poise, she should play Tier 3 Mickey Mouse tourneys that have easier opponents...though even most of THEM are tougher than Julie Coin. Ana is WONDERFULLY sweet, but she will NEVER have consistent success until she gets mentally tougher...and that's NOT gonna happen by pretending the problem doesn't exist.

Did I say something?
On topic, yes I agree with you but maybe you shouldn't be so harsh saying she should play Mickey Mouse tournaments. Just a thought..and at the end of the day it's her life and her problem. She should be the one figuring this one out. I know she will. Unitil then I'm not going to insult her. She's slumping ..so f... what?

I also think Ana should directly adress this mental issue. She has stated many times in post match interviews after some losses that she lost concentration. It's something as clear as water and she knows it. But it seems that she is not really taking direct care of it... only working on practicing her shots and getting confident on them. Maybe she should actually do some mental work, to practice her focus, to keep concentration for a longer time. This bad losses are always coming and sometimes I think she should have that ego some players have that they simply don't allow themselves to lose to lower ranked players.

I also think Ana should directly adress this mental issue.OH MY GOODNESS! Somebody check the temperature in Hell;I think it just froze over because someone actually agreed with me!

I worry that Ana's team might be against this because they're afraid that she'll misinterpret this as questioning her mental health. This is far,FAR less complicated than psychotherapy. You simply find someone with an athletic background, preferably in tennis, who can relate to what Ana faces(a woman might be better for her). The counsellor could teach her how to steel herself when things aren't going perfectly since she(or he)has been in the same types of competition. There's no crazy dream interpretation exercise or anything off-the-wall like that, just basic,common-sense strategy. As I said,MANY top athletes--most relevantly,Navratilova--used this to take their careers to new levels.Martina credits this quite a bit with helping her overcome her mental block with Chris Evert...Thanks a lot for NOT viewing this as an attack against Ana:hatoff:

I guess we shouldn't be using this thread then, since this is the fight thread!

I just think that this trend of really bad losses has to end sometime. And she has had them since she began playing, so I don't see them going away if nothing is done. We can't blame it on lack of experience.. she has plenty, having played 3 Grand Slam finals. And Ana also has a very weird trend of sucking after big wins.

In her post match interview after losing to Coin she said that she thinks she deserves the number 1 ranking and that she thinks she can mantain it for a long time and win Grand Slam titles. If she wants to do so she needs to learn how to be consistent, and that means winning when your not playing well, when your not confident, just out of sheer determination and a strong will. Sometimes Ana can actually do that, but most times she can't. If she really wants this, she will need to work on her mental game.

I also want her to be the best she can be.. and I think she is still quite far from reaching her full potention. You know, there is a TV comentator here in Brazil who works for ESPN. His name is Paulo Cleto and he is a big fan of Ana. He always says that she is one of the most talented players on the circuit, if not THE most talented. But he also always says that she is not ready and that she needs to develop the heart and mind of a true champion.
