This is a must win tournament
I hope she be in her top of her form that at least she could gain her confidence
Wish her luck

Maria looked confident in Dubai.

She was going for her shots and she was attacking the net.

If she wants to go far in Doha, she will have to do the same thing.

I wish her luck anyway

(6) Daniela Hantuchova (SVK) vs. Catalina Castano (COL)
Eleni Daniilidou (GRE) vs. (wc)Selima Sfar (TUN)

Maria Kirilenko (RUS) vs. Q
(3)Martina Hingis (SUI) vs. BYE

Tough second round again. :(

Good luck Maria!

I think that's a bit of an over-exaggeration. Yes, she has to do well here, but she has a possible clash with Hingis in the 2R which will be difficult. Nonetheless, good luck Maria! ;)

If she somehow manages to squeeze past Hingis, her QF is definitly winnable. Hopefully if it occurs it will be against Daniela again allowing Maria to have her revenge! :)

These draws certainly aren't helping her. :( But she said she wants to be in the top 10 and these are the matches she's going to have to win to make that goal. Good luck!

First of all I wrote that before the draw is announced.Secondly it is not an over-exaggeratıon. It is just strong wish for Maria to make a big step for her career. Time is passing and alot of young stars are doıng better than Maria that she should have done already. Look at Anna she is in now top ten.Maria's ranking should be higher than now. Because she ıs a real brilliant tennis player.
I hope Im not understood wrong.:wavey:

And so would I :D
I think Makiri would win if they did play again, but I wouldn't be surprised if Dani loses in the 1st or 2nd round as it is and Makiri has Martina who I love also :awww:

Hopefully MK knows Martina's game a bit now after dubs so good like little one

I don't see it coming, he had some easy draws earlier and couldn't go deep (Pattaya for example ) and things are getting tougher , I don't see MAria winning with Martina, she doesn't have enough power to trouble Martina.

You don't need power to trouble Martina.

Look at Sugiyama.

It's skill and Guile Maria needs, not power. I agree with Soul. Maria should be further up the rankings than she is. Look at Chakvetadze!

I'm hoping Maria will be back in the #20's by the end of the year.

Of course Maria has the game to beat Martina it's just a matter of believing so and putting together a good match. Martina will try to frustrate her but Maria can't let it get to her.

But first things first she has to get out of the first round.

maria certainly has the foundations to make it as a top tenner..it's apparent now that she needs specialist development in aspects of her game to help her get there. so i really cant understand why she doesn't have a FT coach to foster that growth ---and by "coach", i mean a third-party professional, not her father.

Feb 26th, 2007, 06:07 PM
Beating Hingis won't be easy, but you don't get to the top 10 without having to earn it. Maria wants to get to the top 10 and win a few titles this year. As I said last week, she has to start by beating a quality opponent. Maria can't even think about winning a title until she starts beating strong players. I know she has the ability to do so. She has done it in the past. Now, Masha has to believe in herself and do it again. Then, she will be able to get where she wants to be

You maybe right. Resting up. Ana I said they were playing IW, but things seemed too have changed with Martina there now. I like Ana and Masha, But Masha will learn much much more from Martina. Only 2nd outing as a pair, and beat the top seeds in Doha! Given a hard choice between Ana & Martina, I have to go for Martina as a partner for Masha.
