LAS VEGAS, NV, USA - One of the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour's all-time greats, Jennifer Capriati, made an appearance on Thursday, January 11 at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show, showing her support for the Tour's title sponsor Sony Ericsson by partaking in a Q&A session, a one-hour autograph session, a raffle contest as well as a Sony blog.

A bubbly Capriati also spoke to Variety on how she feels about Sony Ericsson's new place in women's professional tennis.

"It's great to have a sponsor like Sony Ericsson," said the 30-year-old Floridian. "They're huge, they have all kinds of products, and they're fun. I have a W710i walkman phone, and I was using the K790i - it takes great pictures. I've gotten into all of that now. I text a lot too. I wish I could say I've been playing on the Tour since they took over; I haven't, but I will be."

Having made one of the great comebacks in tennis history in the early part of this decade, returning from adversity to capture two Australian Opens (2001, 2002), one French Open (2001) and reach the No.1 ranking, Capriati has been in injury-induced hiatus recently, missing 2005 and 2006 with persistent shoulder problems. It was a subject that the American addressed during her talk with Variety.

"These days, if I'm not travelling to go see a doctor I'm just hanging out, trying to have some fun. I'm still in Florida, I still work out, I'm still trying to come back."

Looks like she's really positive about the whole thing. The whole "I will be back" thing sounds a bit better than her last interview (at the Australian last year, I think?) where she said she probably wouldn't be but maybe.

So good to see Jennifer. She doesn't seem to put on weight which is a good thing. But I have difficulty understanding why an injury takes so long to heal.

Jennifer pls come back strong. The tour is not the same without you.

I read this earlier today, and it made me realize how much I loved watching her slug it out on tour. Her matches with Serena from 02-04 were real barnburners, and she still looks relatively fit to me. What was wrong with her anyway, someone want to fill me in? Was it a back problem?

I don't think Jen will make a comeback like she did in 2000 - 2001 but its great to hear she still trying to play again. I would love to see her play again as I don't want this injury to be the career ender.

The labrum is one of the most difficult injuries to get over. It's ended many baseball pitchers' careers. Plus Jen had wrist problems too.

Jen looks real good. I really miss she and Serena battling it out. It didn't matter what the rankings were, it was always exciting. The talking heads always tried to make it seem as though they had problems with each other but they both said it was nonsense. Hurry back Jen. :bounce:

Jennifer was an immense loss to the tour both in 1993 and from 2005.

But still, I don't want to see her out on the court again just for the sake of it. She had a good career which almost did her talents justice. I say "almost" in consideration of the fact that very few players live up to their full potential. Jen was a player who had her moments in the spotlight and on the presentation stand, as she deserved.

I think 2004 was, on reflection, a good final year for her, if that's how her career ended. She held the upper hand over Serena and won some thrilling encounters at the grandslams. Most of all, she was still bouncy and capable of playing at a high physical level -- something which epitomised the style for which Jennifer was famous. Those forehands off the back foot, the hitting on the run, those powerful steps, the relentless chasing and indefatigable endurance levels she possessed.

If she does return, I want to see that Jennifer. But I doubt I would now.

Well said... i know hindsight is 20/20, but i still feel jenn should've won a few more slams... I also agree that Jenn should comeback only if she is superfit and super eager...
