Round 1 : Santangelo
Round 2: Krajicek
Round 3: Nadia
Round 4: Jankovic
Quaterfinals: Kuznetsova/Dementieva
Semi-finals: ?
Final: Winner of Top Half (?)

This is purely hypothetical... but who could Serena play in the semi's anyway?

Everyone has a path to the final even the qualifier who is yet to make the main draw.;)

She could play Kuznetsova in the QF and Mauresmo/Dementieva/Vaidisova in the SF.

I think Serena should be proud if she makes the Round of 16 here, but it will be hard. Beating Nadia would be an accomplishment at this point.

Beating Santangelo would be an accomplishment after her loss to Bammer.

But I fully expect her to beat Santangelo for the record.

you would have to expect serena to make it the third round of the AO this year or otherwise they'll be some serious questions to be asked. i wouldn't be surprised if she lost to santangelo but she should get past her as she is probably more hungier ever since that Hobart loss to Bammer.

Before we start considering Serena's QF and SF opponents, we should probably FIRST wonder how she'll fare in the first 3 rounds. Santangelo will be a good first test, but even a semi-injured Petrova in Round 3 may be too much for Williams at this point.

Her confidence is (as always) high; her game is (as always) amazing; but, the big question right now is her fitness. I'm having a hard time seeing her huff-n-puff her way through more than three rounds.

Good luck, Serena. Get back to where you belong. The game needs you.

If Nadia has a stomach injury, Serena may be able to beat her.

Yeah, this draw is tough for Serena. She better hope that she's serving and returning well because those two shots set up SO many of her points. I doubt she'll make it past Jelena, unless Jelena is spent after two long weeks of tennis, an injury, and another week in Melbourne. I predict a 4th round or maybe a quarterfinal finish (first two rounds are winnable, Nadia is injured, Jelena might be spent and injured). I sure hope Serena has been hitting the gym like crazy these days off.

what i meant by hungrier is that she is determined & what i said wasn't meant to be a joke.

Sorry but wrong - Mauresmo didn't have one w/o... there's a difference between a w/o and winning with a ret! Mauresmo still played at least 1 set in all 3 matches that she won with a ret... in a w/o you don't play a point!

That's why a retirement counts in H2H as a defeat and a walkover doesn't. ;)

Why make such a stupid thread like this in GM, idiot? When you know the vultures are flying overhead, taking pleasure in every loss. Theres already a thread like this in Serena's forum where it belongs.

I love Serea, really do, but it would be funny as hell if she actually won the AO this year as unfit as she is

This should be in Serena's forum, but its already there. So there was no need in you even making the thread. I've said it once a lot, and I'll say it again...RETARD :D

If Serena was just a little more fit she could have took this years AO. Look at that draw its about the best I've seen, they usually reserve draws like that for Maria.

Venus was extremely fit, having worked extremely hard on her fitness all year. That gave her a chance.

it isn't a stupid thread. It's just a preview of the AO to which we are excitingly looking forward, from Serena's perspective. It's like an aperitive.
