If Amelie Mauresmo wins the AO again, will she finally be a worthy world #1?

I know she is not #1 anymore but will she have your respect?

Discuss!

Does a player need to win GS and be number 1 to have your respect  :tape: Amélie has had it for years and even more since 2006 AO and Wimbledon

She's always been a worthy # 1 as far as I'm concerned.

Will it convince her detractors? Probably not.

She was already a worthy No. 1, and she already has my respect. She was No. 1 for some of the year with one slam, and had two slams until the end of the year when she lost No. 1. What's unworthy about that?

While I wasn't ready to bury "Chokomomo" in the proverbial tennis graveyard after Australia last year, the girl played amazing tennis in the Wimbledon final against the toughest broad on the tour to come back from down a set, and maybe even a break. Amazing stuff from Amelie!

I've always had respect for Amelie even before 2006. She doesn't need to win another Slam to maintain respect from me.

Amelie is probably the most respectable player on tour. You rarely see Amelie having hissie fits and taking part in these mind games, she is a down to earth woman and a great tennis player. She is wholly worthy of the world number one as she proved last year.

Sometimes I ask myself what does she need to do anymore to finally be a "worthy" number one

at least she is human not like many others hitting the ball so hard with no emotions almost playing like the perfectly programmed ROBOTS.

NO :o, winning the AO, or any other tournament wouldn't make Momo a worthy #1...she wouldn't be a WORTHY #1 if the won the GRAND SLAM this year

.....you can't BECOME something you already ARE! ;) If the Wimbledon match proved NOTHING, it proved that Amelie was if NOTHING, a worthy #1 :yeah:, she doesn't need to do ANYTHING else. The only #1 who needs to prove herself AS a #1 player is Sharapova, because she was only #1 for like 5 weeks, and she didn't really do anything during that time (win a major, Tier I etc.), but she'll be #1 again unDOUBTEDLY, and she'll take care of that then :yeah:

I can't think of an unworthy world no.1 since I started following tennis.
