View Full Version : Quick report - pretty much for Misa fans, coz I haven't seen much tennis!

So I got to Hobart Saturday morning, and it was pissing down with rain...went to dump my bags at the hotel and figured there was no point going to the tennis, coz they weren't gonn a be playing anytime soon. So I went to the markets and just generally got wet. Chhecked into my room at about 1:30pm and turned on the tv to see that Hingis-Safina was on..so I watched that, and then after getting a few messages about what the Hobart MD was, I decided to walk up to the tennis, just to see if i could get the draw. Asked some people about MD - no one seemed to know what was going on. Equally the same with my pass...finally found someone who knew something about the passes, and he said he'd see if mine was there. As he was walking into the players area, he spotted Misa, and he asked will she know me if he calls her over (I told him yes), so he called her over, and we were talking, and I got my pass, and we talked some more, and then because it was still drizzling, we walked back to our hotels.

Sunday: so I got to the tennis at about 9am, planning to watch heaps of matches. Saw Azarenka-Shvedova and Fuda-Spears, and then I saw Misa warming up for training, so I went up to say hi...she was waving, and she let me on the court while she was training so I can take some pics (she trained with Vinci). Then I was planning to go to some more matches, but Misa asked do I wanna get a lift back into town, and as I had nothing for lunch, I thought it's a good idea, and I'll walk back to the tennis after. So we got into one of the cars, and guess who was driving? Kirsten who's been posting on here! :) ( :wavey: Kirsten). So in the car we were talking a bit, and I said I needed to find a supermarket...Misa knew where one was, so Kirsten was nice enough to drop us off there, and we did some shopping before walking back to our hotels (she's 4 blocks away from me). She told me that she was training again at 5pm, so I said I'd come if I could be assed to walk up the hill again! hehe Of course, I went. It was cold, and I ended up being a "ballgirl" for Misa and the Czech girl she trained with, coz no one else was around (even Misa's dad went inside to drink coffee! ) So after training, Misa went running back to the hotel (her Dad told her to) and I walked back with her Dad. We had a nice talk. He was surprised that I can speak Dutch "so well" (according to him my Dutch is good  ). :)

So today...I saw in the paper that Misa was 3rd match so I arrived at about 10am, and Misa was hitting up (again with Vinci). After that, we were just sitting in the players area, waiting for her match. We were doing sudoku's. She finished one that I had started and kinda gave up on. Then it was time for her match, and it started really well, but Bremond took a medical time out at 2-1 (on serve) in the 2nd and it all seemed to fall apart for Misa after that... couldn't buy a 1st serve and had no rhythm. After the match, I was pretty sure she won't wanna talk, so I walked out to one of the other courts, and I saw Misa sitting on the bench on one of the training courts, so I left her and watched some of...uhh...well I dunno coz I was on the phone to someone (not right by the court...I'm not that bad). ;) Misa went past about 10 mins later, and I wanted to go to the toilet, but she thought I was walking to the exit and asked if I wanted to get a lift...so I said ok - thought I could maybe cheer her up a bit. So I asked if she was sure that she wanted me to come with her and she said yes. So I jumped in the car and we talked a little bit. e got back to her hotel, and she said that she was going grocery shopping and do I wanna come. So I said if she wants...so I waited for her to put her bag in her room, and we started walking, and she looked really down, so I was trying to talk about other stuff. We did some shopping, and she said she will go to the own centre and do I wanna come...again I said if she wants. but we went back to our hotels first...she helped me recheck in, coz I had to change rooms - long story - and then we went shopping. Her Dad messaged her that she has to go practice her serving again, so she asked do I maybe wanna have dinner with them after that. Of course I did. So she was practicing her serving, aiming at 3 bottles on the court... she got 2. ;) And after that we had dinner in the players lounge and then walked back to the hotel...

gah out of time but that's basically it.

But Sarah does have problems with the ui, and I think I remember trying to teach her the eu as well, so I think tuinmeubelen would be problematic for her indeed;)

But Scheveningen is a good enouch accomplishment for her;) And overall her pronuncation is good:)

Well it's very difficult for foreigners to learn those things as ui and eu, so try hard and it will be good enough to understand I guess.

Sorry, I didn't get to see Serena play yesterday because it was when Misa was training, and then we were having dinner. I don't think I will see her today either, bcause Misa will play a pro-am at 3pm, so i think it's when Serena will be playing. I'm meeting her again at 2:10pm to go back to the tennis - she's gone to relax in her room, and her Dad's gone fishing. :D So i can finally get on the internet! ;)

Yeah, Petr is ok - he talks a bit...but mostly he doesn't seem to say much - I mean if we are sitting in the players area or so...but it's cool.

I don't think my Dutch is that bad - I just know that sometimes my grammar is weird, and my pronunciation needs some work, but I don'tget much chance to practice. But yesterday, I walked with Misa to the tennis, and we had the whole conversation in Dutch (about 15 mins walking). :D

Ok so yesterday:

Pro-Am was really funny. Misa's first two partners didn't have much tennis experience, and shewas losing those games...and she said before that she wants to win. Then she came to get a drink and said to me "I'm not winning!" But after that she had better partners, and she said she won most of the other games (they played like 10 mins with 1 person, and then would get a new partner). Then we were walking back to her hotel, and I had to go back to mine to put on some long pants because it was getting cold and I only had on shorts. So Misa said she's not sure when she's leaving...so I should just come at 6:30 and call her room from reception. She answered in the Dutch way "met Misa" - don't know who else she thought was gonna be calling her room at 6:30 though  ). Misa's Dad was coming a little after us, so we walked and when we got there, the tourney organisor had arranged a cake and a bottle of wine for her, and we all sang "Happy Birthday". :D Then someone cut the cake for her, and she was handing it out - well I was putting it into the bowls, and she was giving it to people... and there was a small piece, and so I said I'll take it, and she's telling me "No, you have to have more!" Well she didn't even end up having any (she didn't want to). And I did just have a small piece. But worst... she wanted a pic of me and her with the cake, and some photographer of the tourney was taking that. But thankfully, it wasn't in the paper today! *phew* But we had a couple of pics of us taken on my camera and hers... and now she wants it on one of her websites... *grmbl* Well I told her I really don't want it but we'll see... ;)

The doubles match was well...nervewracking. In the first set, they didn't play so good (Iveta and Misa) and Jarka served unbelievably good...6-7 wasn't too bad. Second set was quick for Misa and Iveta...2 breaks of serve on Jarka's serve was weird, coz she was the strongest server on all 4 yesterday! Last set starter well, with a break, but they got broken right back, so it was also a bit nervewracking...but at 3-3 they broke Bryanne's serve and then held for 5-3. I was praying they would break Jarka's serve so that Misa didn't have to serve for the match, because her serve had been a bit up and down during the match, but Jarka held and Misa served very well in the last game... woohoo a win on her birthday. :D

And I will go soon to the tennis, because she will train at 11 with Iveta...and her doubles is today at 1pm.

Oh, I forgot, I was talking a bit with Sania Mirza too when Misa was giving out the cake - well she had given it out, and Sania was asking Misa what clothes she was wearing, because Misa's just has a white skirt, and she stuck some purple flowers on one corner - it looks nice. And so Misa was saying she made it, and they were talking about clothes then. And the other day when Misa and I were shopping, we went to a shop and they had so short skirts, and I said "oh, Golovin skirts"...and so now Misa was talking to Sania about Golovin skirts yesterday!

ugh...so it's nearly 3aam, I can't sleep, so thank god the hotel has internt - even if it is overpriced and I can't get on msn. ;)

So the doubles yesterday was not so good...obviously because Misa and Iveta lost. Wiggly...I have alot of pics of Iveta...and I was sitting next to her at the table in the players lounge, but I didn't really say anything...Misa wasn't there (in the lockerroom) and Misa's Dad and Iveta's coach were talking in Czech, so I just sat and did my sudoku. I will probably come home today now. I asked at the hotel, and if I leave early I don't have to pay the extra 2 ights, and it's not so expensive o change my flight booking...so we will see what happens this morning. I would like to get home and put my photo's online.

But anyway, after the doubles, I asked Misa what she will do in the afternoon. I knew she wanted to see the movie "The Holiday", so I suggested we go, but there was only 1 session left for the day at 6:40pm and it was in Gold Class. Well I hadn't been to Gold Class cinema before, but I just knew it was a small theatre and was expensive. So Misa said we will go, and she'll meet me at my hotel (cinema 1 block up and 1 block across from my hotel), and I said I will book the tickets. I thought it's about $25 per ticket, but it was $32  So Misa came and we walked to the movies, and she was surprised when I said that the tickets were $32 (I had said to her before that gold class is more expensive)...bu she didn't realise that I had already paid for the tickets...and hr Dad had only given her like $25  So she's saying "I will pay you back in Melbourne..." and I kept telling her that it's fine . OK, I'm not rich, but I can spare $7  Then it was only 6pm when we got there, so she said maybe we should get dinner. So we had some pasta, and talked about her childhood (a bit about school in NL). We got back to the movies at 6:30pm, and it was a bit different to a normal cinema. We got shown into some room and were sat at a table and we could eat something if we wanted (we had asked before getting dinner if you can get food with gold class, coz I was pretty sure you could, but the guy at the ticket desk said no!) Then we got shown into the theatre... it was really nice! There was like only 20 seats, and you have a table between 2 people, and can order something durng the movie, and the seats all recline! No wonder it cost $32! And luckily, the movie was really good. :D

After the movie Misa suggested that we get a drink - coz she can now. ;) So we walked around the centre of Hobart looking for somewhere to get a drink for 15 mins... NOTHING! Couldn't believe there was nothing open, it was only like 9:20pm! So Misa said we will go back to her hotel and have a drink, so she can pay for it (put it on the room, because I also paid for her dinner  ) So we sat and talked for about an hour, was really nice...not busy there so we could have a nice conversation. Misa wanted to go shopping today before she goes to Melbourne, ut her Dad rang her at 10:15 and told her she has to train tomorrow 11am...so then she asked for my phone number so she can tell me what she's up to in Mlb (with training and stuff)! So she's gonna sms me this morning and tell when we will walk to the tennis for her training today! :D

ugh...tim's almost out...better try to get some more sleep... :wavey:
