I think this is an okay draw.
Muller won in 3 sets on clay in Palermo in 2005.
Time for Lucie to get revenge.
I hope her leg is okay from Hopman Cup.

What happened? I caught the Czech’s first two matches but I missed their last one. Did she suffer an injury?

Interesting draw and I’m pretty confident she can beat Muller. Muller is currently at 34 in the world, Lucie is 42. So not much of a difference. And we know if she happens to come up against Anabel Medina Garrigues she can beat her. ;)

I don't know what happened. BUt you can see pics in the pics thread with Lucie getting her leg taped & the Czech team then withdrew from mixed.

Lucie won't be 42 tomorrow. When the new rankings are released she will be down in the 70s as she lost her Gold Coast points.

Come on Lucie, you are way more talented than to be in the 70s in ranking!

Lucie will now face Serena after Serena defeated Sofia Arvidsson 6-4 6-0 :scared:

I think Lucie can win but she has to play her best and kind of hope Serena isn't at her best.

Nice win today Lucie. :yeah:

Double Faults were a problem though.

Good luck against Serena. I'd rather Lucie play her now than when Serena's had a few matches under her belt.

Not good, however if she can win a few matches at the Australian Open that ranking will improve dramatically.

I'm worried about Serena. If she's on her game then I think Lucie could struggle. Let's hope she's not. ;)

lucie has 3-6 6-3 1-0 on serena. :yeah:

win or lose, i feel like lucie is back on the rise, and we should expect her in the top 50 in no time. if not, she has nothing to defend after clay, so she can make her move then. :p

the medina garrigues match was a turning point.

Hmmm disappointed of course that she lost, but the match could have gone either way. A huge battle and she shouldn't be too discouraged. If Serena is back on her game then it's a very solid game by Lucie.

So close:sad:
But I don't think Lucie would have got so close a few months ago. Hopefully she can put together a strong AO, crossing fingers for a good draw.

Great fighting though. Hopefully this give her some confidence in pushinag top player (no matter how Serena played).

I heard though that Lucie served a double-fault at 5-5 in the breaker though. :(
