Daunting draws for NZ
NZ players have received daunting draws in round 1 of the doubles at the ASB Tennis Classic.


The New Zealanders have received daunting draws in the first round of the doubles at the ASB Tennis Classic in Auckland.


Wildcard Marina Erakovic and Italian Sara Errani have been pitted against the top seeds, Argentina's Paola Suarez and Slovakia's Jeanette Husarova.


Leanne Baker and her Australian partner Nicole Kriz have made it into the main draw with their rankings and have drawn fourth seeds Croatian Jelena Kostanic and Poland's Marta Domachowska in the first round.


Rain has held up singles qualifying today with New Zealand's Shona Lee in second round action later against Austrian Yvonne Meusburger.

That's awesome that Leanne eventually did not NEED a wildcard to get thru to the main draw! Very proud of her!

They were the last placed team in, from what I understand another team (cant find out who) was only 5 ranking places (together) behind the Leanne/Kriz duo

Leanne/Kriz may actually count themselves favourites here as the surface favours them alot more than their opponents - im not so sure how Marina will go though (yay its on Tv1 this afternoon!)
