Well Di is a typicle baseliner who goes for her shots. She makes lots of errors, but when shes on, its pretty to watch. Will hold a ralley with anyone, but may struggle with consistancy tommorrow. Di's 23 and has been at College in the States for the last 4 years. This will be her first year as a pro. She played ASB qualies before losing to Squera on one occasion 75 64. She is on a hot streak at the moment tho, winning the Auckland Champs 3 weeks ago, then the NZ Champs 2 weeks ago. A player watch. Di won win tomorrow, but a 3 setter is on the cards if she on.

Ellen is very talented. Shes been injured for a large part of the last year, but when she came back, she went from no ranking to #595 in a matter of weeks. Best result would be qualifying and making the Q/F's of a 25k in Aussie loosing to Casey in 3 sets. Really tough draw for her, not sure what will happen tomorrow to be honest. Shes beaten some pretty hanyd players in her short career so far. Look out for her in the latter part of 2007 and early stages of '08.

Dianne - Very good doubles player, has just graduated from the University of Arizona. Havent seen her play before but from what Ive heard she likes to stay well behind the baseline for a large part of the match altho shes not afraid to change it up now and again and try some serve and volleys.

Ellen - Best player Christchurch has produced since 1900's, very lethal forehand and has been working on her backhand alot this year (still expect her to try to hit 90% of her shots on her forehand side). She played very well against Sania Mirza in the fed cup this year, a former top 30 junior and definately has the potential to become a top 100 player.

Do you know if she will get a doubles WC with another New Zealander ??

Marina Erakovic was given the wildcard in doubles to play with 'whoever she wants'. Last time she decided to play with an international girl (cant remember who it was but the girl played in a doubles tournament with Leanne recently so dont expect Marina to play with her again). I cant see Ellen being interested in playing doubles, unless its used as a practice game for a Fed Cup arrangement

New Zealand for there own Grand Slam :rocker2:

The Kiwi wildcards have tough draws for tomorrow's first round of qualifying at the ASB Tennis Classic in Auckland.

Canterbury's Ellen Barry will meet former winner Meilen Tu, while Shona Lee, Dianne Hollands and Kairangi Vano will all face players ranked a couple of hundred places ahead of them.

German Julia Schruff has replaced Kiwi up and comer Sacha Jones in the main draw after she had to withdraw through injury.
