Bloody Liz Smylie didn't have the playoff's on the sheltered centre court cause she wanted to keep it free for the maindraw players to practice rather than have the playoff matches. I drove all the way from Brisbane for nothing, all because some woman on the phone said it would be played under cover on centre court. I'll only be going tomorrow if it's obviously a clear day. Queenslander Shannon Golds and New South Wales’ Sophie Ferguson will meet in the final of the Mondial Australian Women’s Hardcourts wildcard playoff. Golds posted a hard-fought 8-5 win over Trudi Musgrave , while Ferguson was red-hot form in her 8-0 win over Victorian Emily Hewson. With a rain-interrupted day, matches were reduced to “pro sets”, which is first to eight games with a tiebreak at 8-8. In the opening round of the playoff earlier in the day, top seed Ferguson recorded a sound 8-4 win over New South Wales’ Nicole Kriz , while second seed Lauren Breadmore was a surprise casualty, falling 8-3 to Golds. Musgrave got her campaign away to a strong start with an 8-5 win over Alison Bai , while Hewson was dominant in her 8-3 defeat of Christina Wheeler. The final of the wildcard playoff will be played on centre court tomorrow at 9am.
