Harold and Madge Bishop - Pure class!

Well....I had to start this new thread with FunkyHazza didn't I!?

Glad you all found it okay - i.e. your Neighbours homing devices are all working ;)

Here's today's debate: Paul Robinson should retire now, or at least should grow his leg back. Discuss.

Has anyone else noticed the battle of bling going on in Neighbours? All the female stars are trying to outdo each other with stupidly large and sparkly earings! Izzy is winning hands down IMO.

I agree wholeheartedly, Paul is quite wonderful and would be even with no legs at all  I think Carmella was mad to turn down the chance of a crack at him.

I've started to like him with Lynn and feel suitably ashamed about it :o :tape:

Who on earth came up with the idea of pairing up Katya and Ned? What an insanely dull, pointless and crappy couple.

I hope that blind girl pisses off back to where she came from. She is so annoying. I can't stand her!

Stingray is an idiot too. I feel sorry for Dylan  I read my Sun TV guide from Saturday, this xmas looks great for Neighbours ;)

Yay! Hurrah for Neighbourz! I love it long time.

I went to see Karl and the old band in Liverpool a few weeks ago. It was beautiful. Watching him bounce up and down to covers of the Killers songs was probably in the top 50 best moments of my life. Maybe ;)

lol, I was thinking that too. Although he did look good in just his boxers :rolls:

I miss Izzy  and Elle is very irritating. Paul's walk when he walked over to Max was a lot more obvious. I never really noticed his limp before today :o

At least I haven't seen Anna again. Hopefully the plane that her and her family got on crashed LOST style ;) (She did get on the plane right? Bree & Janelle didn't stop her did they? )

I used to hate Katya. Infact I hated her so much that I wrote in the other Neighbours thread that I wanted to pour petrol over her, set her alight and watch her burn or something like that. But now I don't hate her cause I've realised she's stunningly hot and I'm shallow.

And also now she is nice to Sooz. I only like people who are nice to her. When Izzy was being evil to her I hated her too. I grew out of that though.

*weeps* I MISS IZZY!

Don't tell me you've forgotten The Izzmeister already!?! ;)

Carmella is a better character than Kartier. Even if she makes the most ridiculous nun ever!

Can't stand the Karty woman myself, she's just a pooh actress. Watching her and Ned together is like watching two robots trying to express 'this human emotion called love?'

But she won't be around for much longer....

Mishka's just come back from Russia and the claws are coming out between her and Janelle. You didn't miss a lot. Carmella got horribly disfigured when her mad cousin threw boiling water over her  Then she started a fire in the hospital (mad cousin not Carmella), Dylan made off with Baby Kerry :baby: , Elle found them and took BK to Harold's, Harold kissed Loris, Ned was dull, Stingray went to an AA meeting and Katya's been stealing swanky cars. More importantly, Paul and Susan are still away, making every episode pointless and boring. But Paul returns next week :bounce:

Despite all their 'NEW money' the Timmons' couldn't afford both a haircut AND shampoo for Dylan. Shampoo is obviously very expensive in Australia.

Dylan is the ultimate GREASE MONKEY. GROSS.

Little Britain stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams are to appear in an episode of Neighbours. The duo appear as Lou and Andy in the episode which has already been filmed in Australia.
Their cameo roles will be screened in Australia in three months' time, but UK viewers will have to wait until it is broadcast on BBC One later in the year.
The official Neighbours website said their visit to the soap was "relatively kerfuffle free".
"The cast and crew were delighted to welcome Matt, David and the documentary team that are recording their experience on tour Down Under," it said.
Famous faces
The scene features Andy and Lou in the Scarlet Bar with Neighbours favourites Steph and Toadie, played by Carla Bonner and Ryan Moloney.
No further details have been revealed.
Lucas and Walliams are the latest famous faces to make an appearance on Neighbours.
Last year Australian cricket legend Shane Warne popped up on Ramsay Street, while Australian Idol host Andrew G also turned up unexpectedly in the fictional suburb of Erinsborough.

BBC threatens to drop Neighbours after 21 years

The BBC is threatening to drop daytime show Neighbours after 21 years, it said today. The Corporation is currently in the middle of negotiations to renew its contract but it has accused distributor Fremantle of making " unrealistic and greedy" demands.

The breakdown of contract talks will open the way for ITV and Five to bid for the Aussie soap.

BBC director of acquisitions George McGhee told Broadcast magazine: "If a deal is not reached in the very, very near future, we will withdraw the money and move it elsewhere.

"We've made a good offer which is about to be withdrawn."

An insider said the demands were "unrealistic and greedy".

The BBC pays about £25,000 per episode but Fremantle are reportedly seeking a rise to more than £70,000.

Neighbours is the most popular show on terrestrial daytime television, other than the BBC1 lunchtime news.

It has aired twice a day on BBC1 since 1986.

Landing the show would be a coup for ITV1, which has struggled at teatime since losing Home And Away to Five and Paul O'Grady to Channel 4.

A BBC spokeswoman said: "We hope that Neighbours will remain on the BBC but no programme is indispensable and it has to come at the right price."

BBC loses Neighbours

The BBC1 controller, Peter Fincham, has confirmed that the BBC has lost its daytime ratings banker Neighbours after 21 years on the network.
Mr Fincham broke the news that the corporation had lost the soap on BBC1's One O'Clock news bulletin today, saying it was a "sad day" for the channel. Neighbours will disappear from BBC1 when the current contract ends in the spring of next year.

It is not yet clear where the soap will end up, but ITV and Channel Five are understood to be bidding for the show.

The BBC said in a statement: "We have this afternoon formally withdrawn from the bidding for Neighbours."

"The BBC has had a long and fruitful relationship with Neighbours, which has transmitted on BBC1 for 21 years, and this has come to an end because of an unrealistic price demand.

"We do not believe that we could have justified to BBC viewers a price tag of what would have amounted to some £300m across the term of the contract. Paying that sum would also have compromised our ability to invest in new original programmes. We made a fair offer and are sad that we have not been able to reach terms with Fremantle."

The loss of Neighbours will deal a huge blow to the BBC1 schedule, where it pulls in around 3 million viewers for its 1.35pm lunchtime showing and around 2.6 million for its 5.35pm repeat.

It also marks the end of an era - Neighbours has been broadcast on BBC1 since 1986.

The announcement follows heated negotiations between the BBC and Fremantle, the RTL subsidiary that distributes Neighbours.

Corporation have insiders attacked the show's distributor for "unrealistic and greedy" demands during the negotiations.

During the talks, a senior BBC source explained that relations with Freemantle were strained.

He told MediaGuardian.co.uk late last month: "What [Freemantle] don't appear to understand is that this is a daytime soap opera, not a peak-time drama, and if they can get the money they want then good luck to them but it would be damaging to them.

"They may get that money but they have damaged their credibility with the way they have behaved.

"They also don't seem to realise that one of the reasons the show has the status it does in Australia is that it is shown on the BBC. Let them see what happens if it goes elsewhere."

Neighbours would plug a hole in ITV1's afternoon schedule, which has struggled since the loss of Home and Away to Five and the defection of Paul O'Grady to Channel 4.

Neighbours could also be used on ITV2, which is also looking for a "teen-oriented soap".

ITV could follow the lead of Five, which runs Home and Away on its main network at 6pm, then gives viewers a first look at the next episode immediately afterwards on digital channel Five Life.

Re Ned's brain, functioning cells are unlikely to be discovered, but the removal of Paul's brain tumour apparently stops him being a complete arsehole and makes him think it's still 1987. Bless.

Rosie and Frazer have just got engaged, Sky's in prison with Mad Mary, Paul's got an imaginary friend and is going gaga with his brain tumour, Oliver is dull and pointless, and Boyd's complete idiocy is stopping him realising that Charlotte is not a real doctor. What a twit!
