:bounce: Sounds like a cool title, nice and dark

I reckon it'll be a Summer or Xmas 2007 release date, and I hope it's the summer cos I'm well looking forward to reading this one :bounce:

Actually just thinking about it...I doubt the 7th book will come out until at least winter 2007 cos the 5th film is due in June 2007 so I think they'll plan it so there's a bit of spacing between the two coming out...

Strange title but who cares as long as the book is good.

Sorry but the snape fans. Hes the one character that is going to have to die as well as Voldy. I think Snape is 'good' BUT whatever happens he will be killed by someone from the oposing side to who he chooses. My guess is at the last moment he chooses the good side but gets killed by either Voldy or Bellatrix.

I think Snape is indeed good now but he wasn't always! I think he has done plenty of bad things and will probably die in this final book, it would be appropriate. I would never say that about a real person but since he is fake I can say his death would be deserved for all the wrong he did in the past.

Snape isn't good now- he killed Dumbledore in the last book, and helped the Dementors to get into Hogwarts!

Possibly. I just think hes been playing a game and has been too clever.

Hes such a good character, possibly the most intriguing in the series, i suppose we will soon find out his fate.

No he helped the death eaters get into hogworts.

He may have killed dumbledore but i think it was part of a bigger plan. Even when i read it in book 6 i just couldn't believe it and i have never felt a huge hatred for snape which i think i would have if he was truely evil. If i am wrong post book 7 so be it.

I agree with Monica_rules, Snape will probably get killed.
To make Snape a baddie would make him way too one dimensional, Snape's a far more interesting character than that.
If Snape is wholly bad, it would completely ruin the morals of the book. It would make it all black vs white. People who were once bad stay bad, people who're good, stay good.

Who says it was murder? It could have been assisted suicide. What were Snape and Dumbledore rowing about? Why was Snape resisiting and telling Dumbledore he can't? Methinks this was D telling Snape to kill him in case he was already dying. It would protect Snape from the baddies, make them believe he's still on their side. It also explains why Snape gets so upset when Harry calls him a coward, just after Snape had to do something that was extremely hard for him to do.

I kind of agree...I agree that if Snape does turn out to be wholly bad all along then it does sort of make the character one-dimensional but then again I like Snape so much that I really don't care if he is evil or not :o

I've always preferred the slightly/totally evil characters in the book ie: Draco, Voldemort, Bellatrix etc plus I always hated Dumbledore (who I renamed around book 3 to be Dumblecrap  )

I agree with you though Martijn, Hermione is cool as well, my favourite of the trio  Harry is a bit  ;)

Snape isn't good or evil, he's a Slytherin; he's on his own side only. He has always made the choices that gave him something. He's shot himself in the foot by killing Dumbledore though, because who on the side of the Order is now ever going to believe that he's not working for Voldemort solely? (and he isn't: he's a highly accomplished Leglimens, that's highly important; he can trick Voldemort)

The deathly hallows sounds interesting. Wonder how the books will end :D
My preferred ending: the list of Horcruxes Dumbledore gave Harry is wrong, and Harry turns out to be Horcrux himself (or his scar anyway), so Harry will need to die or destroy the scar without killing himself, and then Voldemort will die on the hands of someone else. It would be a HUGE disappointment if Harry downright kills Voldemort because it's been emphasised so often that that is the ultimate act of evil....

The evil characters are a little more intriguing but i think most of the time it comes down to why are they doing that?

My favourite characters in the series have been Luna Lovegood, Rita Skeeter and Dobby. Out of the trio Hermonine is prob my fav but i do like Harry although hes a little too impulsive for me, i'm more like Hermoinine in that i like to analise things first.

The most annoying character has to be Hagrid, ever since book 4 hes just annoyed me whenever hes been in it. I'm glad that hes barely in book 5 and 6.

An intriguing title. Very dark, and it is obvious what audience she's intending this for.

I wish people would think out of the box more.

ok you've won me over, murder makes you a good guy. that WAS easy. i should think outside the box.

There's a theory that Dumbledore asked to be killed. There was a part in the novel in which they, Snape and Dumbledore, were seen arguing. By killing Dumbledore, Snape proves himself for Voldemort and will probably get favours from him or secrets about his plans. This he can use to help Harry and others. So Dumbledore may have decided to sacrifice himself for a bigger plan to destroy Voldemort.

There's many theories.... so many..... it's actually quite interesting in reading up on them, though it becomes reall addictive.

The new title is all right, didn't hit me in any special way. Obviously everyone is expecting deaths, and I can't wait to find out who.

I'm VERY worried people will spoil the Harry Potter plot the day before the book is released........ I'd go nuts if I was spoilt........ my plan is to avoid the net, TV, newspapers, sleep early the night before, wake up early, put headphones on full blast and silently wait outside the book store.

So when this is published, I will then actually start reading this series and find out if all the hype is actually justified.

I think it's very likely that Harry's scar is indeed the last horcrux. It explains why one can't live while the other lives.

And once again I agree with Monica_Rules: Hagrid is annoying.

What I find the most fascinating is the fantasy world that she's created which is very much based in reality too. In other words, you feel like the world she's created could possibly exist. It is written in a way that allows for it to exist without us knowing. I think that's the appeal. It's not like say Star Wars which is so distant from reality.

I don't get what it is with people and Order of the Phoenix. I think Order of the Phoenix is my favourite Harry Potter book of the series so far.

I thought it was anti-climatic. It was long and the payoff simply wasn't great. Whereas with IV and VI there was an adrenaline rush towards the end. In V it was missing.

Dec 22nd, 2006, 03:59 PM
Anti-climatic? I beg to differ..... I thought the showdown between the Death Eaters and the Order at the end was freaking fantastic and is one of the things I love most from the entire HP series, and for once I am actually looking forward to a HP movie just to see how that last scene turns out.

Order of the Phoenix was an overlong, overblown mess, which highlighted that Rowling, brilliant author though she is, really needs a decent editor sometimes.

Don't even get me started on emo Harry. He ruined the book on his own.
