French journalists already mention the 1991 generation as the new 1979 girls.
According to you, will they be as successful as Amélie, Séverine, Nathalie or Emilie ?

_______
Here is an article (in French sorry) that goes in this direction.

Victoria Larrière a beaucoup progressé.

Victoria Larriere (born in May 1991) played some good matches this year :
she defeated Klaudia BOCZOVA (SVK) - who is 31th in the world - twice and above all Julia COHEN (USA) in two sets. She made a decent show against Pervak (lost 63 75) and Pivovarova (lost 61 75).
She is at the moment ranked 133th which is actually not that bad. She seems to be quite talented, so I guess that she deverses to be followed.

Cindy Chala (mai 1991) won les Championnats de France 15-16 ans with some good victories over Radovanovic, Larriere and Goncalves. She is a lefty : she manages to find great angles, returns well and is relatively quick. Her serve and her volleys are weak though. She also lacks aggressivity. In a word, she is the typical French player like Dechy.
Her best win is over Palkina - 46th in the world.

Gracia should have won that final against her. From what I saw, Gracia is the best 1991 player, she has the firepower that is nowadays required. I really like her game. She just has to control her nerves.

You can see the video of the final here if I did not make a mistake :

Finally, the 1991 girls are having some good results ! :)

And Amandine Hesse, who is only 14, has just won a title in Algeria (Grade 5) !!!!!

Some infos on Camille Sapène :

There is one French girl born in 1991 in the junior's top 100 : Victoria Larrière. She is at the 67th rank. Gracia is 123th.
Congrats !

Cindy and Victoria are playing at the Banana Bowl this week !

The Banana Bowl was not the greatest tournament for them.
They all lost in the 3rd round.
Cindy lost to Malena Gordo 75 61.
Victoria lost to Iona Ivan 76(2) 46 62

At least, they won't be too much tired for the Copa Gerdau which is a grade A. This is the tournament to win !! Good luck !

But an unknown teen Jenny Julien took the title of the 6th ITF Junior Oran in Algeria (Grade 4) defeating Amandine Hesse in the final 16 63 62. I would have prefered Amandine to win though

She has really worked a lot, I wouldn't have thought she could get this kind of result. I hope she will beat Vaisemberg tomorrow because actually she didn't have to face players with references except Zsilinska, 13th in the world (but she is a moon ball girl). But she did what she has to do, I like her win against Jovanovski, as she is the one who took Hendler out.

Good luck Cindy !

Yeah losing 6-1, 7-6(4) to Pauline Parmentier isn't that bad.

Here's Fred's report from this match :

I also watched the beginning of 4th seed/n°158 Pauline Parmentier vs LL/n°1303 Victoria Larriere.
I was sitting close to Victoria's mum who was really kind and relax as her 16 y.o daughter was on court. I asked why her little daugher Juliette (14 y.o) didn't play. She told me that Juliette didn't get a WC for qualification.
The 1rst set was pretty quick ad I was really impressed with Pauline game...hitting very hard , strong serve....however Victoria also showed a good sense of the game and started to level up at the end of the set. I stopped watching at 2/2 in the 2nd set. Pauline was a little bit deconcentrated at the beginning of the set. She was may be too confident due to 1rst set score...but even if the score was really severe...Camille was not really far.

That's all folks, hope you'll enjoy my report

The thing is he got mixed up between Victoria Larrière and Camille Sapène (the one whose little sister is Juliette and who played against Parmentier that day) and i think he talked with Marie-Pierre Sapène, not Larrière's mother... But it's nice to have a report anyway ;)

Thanks for the report :)

The level seems pretty homegeneous between these girls ; they all have some good results. I would say that Cindy and Gracia seem to be the most interesting prospects but Charlotte and Victoria are not far behind them. Mohn and C.Sapène are also quite talented.
I watched Juliette Sapène play, she will be one to follow also - she only lost 63 76 against Carla Suarez Navarro (a top 300 player), she is better than Chloé Babet according to me.

I updated the results, Charlotte is in SF. :)

Cindy is the only one who got through. I am glad that she manages to defeat players that she is supposed to beat :) She faces Zanchetta who crushed Charlotte. Interesting match to assess Cindy's level in comparison with Charlotte's.

I hope she can capture her second title ! Allez !:bounce:

Cindy is in final and continues her winning streak :) She faces Lykina (26th this week) that Cornet defeated 62 61 earlier in the year. It is a good test for her, she needs to have some references against this kind of players.

Win the title !

Cindy lost the final in three sets. Very close match ... I'm a little bit disappointed, but it was a good tournament overall :yeah:. It's the 3rd title in a row for the Russian. She needs more wins against player like that to be able to reach a QF in a Grand Slam. I hope it will come with time.

Next tournament for her : Santa Croce (Grade 1). She will theoretically be in the first 8th seeds with Hofmanova, Pervak and Hendler. Larrière will be there too.

All the French girls (Cindy, Victoria and Nelly) who were supposed to play Santa-Croce withdrew ... I wonder why. They surely wanted to train a little bit more to be prepared for two big events. I above all hope that it means they will have a WC for Roland-Garros. It would be so great !

I wonder who will go the farthest between all the 1991 girls. I would say that Adeline got probably the best draw, but as she is not the biggest talent of the generation, I sadly doubt that she will take advantage of it. Charlotte, Camille and Victoria are definitely the unluckiest, at least, they will fight and give the best of themselves ... but there again, I don't think it will be enough.

Gracia and Cindy can make some noise there if they are in form. I am still waiting for Gracia to reveal her true talent, it could be the occasion ! It will depend on her mental form. Cindy has been given a very tough draw, but nothing is impossible. I believe that she can reach the 3rd round.

Cindy saved the day ! I am particularly happy with this win, this is probably her best one. As ZAK said, Petra Martic will be very tough, she is one of the best 1991 girls.
Disappointing results for Nathalie and Gracia who really had their chances.
Amandine gave a great match against a seeded player, she is one of our best hopes. Let's see if Kristina can make the upset there against a tired Pivovarova and make the sensation ... She definitely has the game but maybe not the experience.
Camille's match is supposed to be shown on France2's livestream, I will try to have a look at it.

Cindy lost in a brave fight against Brengle , the bad thing is that Brengle is not as good on grass as on hard, but it was still a nice effort from her. I suppose that it was also her first experience on this surface.
I hope that Cindy will play in Brussels as she is supposed to. She can do something good there.

Stats of Cindy's loss :
* 23 winners for 37 unforced errors.
* net approach : 10/19
* first serve in : 75%
* 55% of the points won after her first serve

Brengle only hit 12 winners for 11 unforced errors. The stats are not perfect, but that's very promising. Maybe it was just a bad day, I am glad that she is taking some risks to win the points. That's how she has to play to be a top player. Brengle's game is not sparkling at all, everything she does is good but not great. She is a consistent girl. Cindy has to improve her serve though ... but I think she is on the good way.
Keep trying Cindy and working hard !!

Cindy has to play her double match tomorrow if this is not cancelled because of the weather. So it will be a bit short for Brussels :(. Please, play there Cindy !

First QF in a 25.000$ event for Nathalie :aparty:. She is really challenging Cindy if we were to award the title of the best 1991 girl.

She will be in two weeks the best ranked of them around the 600th position.
I hope she plays Cetkovska, it will be a very nice test for her. The Czech girl is on an impressive winning streak, just like Nathalie :D;). I would love a first success over a top 150 player.

I noticed that she has a very low percentage of first serves. Once again, it's under 40%, I wonder how fast she serves to have this kind of problem. Today, 2 aces and 1 DF. Gracia also advanced in Moscou getting closer to the QF. :D

Keep going girls ! :yeah:

What a surprising winner ! Chloé Babet from Reunion won the Championnat de France 15/16 after her title last year in Championnat de France 13/14 ans. She is born in 1992 and she's the fifth player after Virginie Razzano to win these two titles in a row !
The doubles title has been won by Charlotte Rodier and Nathalie Mohn !

What a joke from our 1991 girls ! Disappointing tournament for Charlotte & Camille. Nathalie went to the final, good performance, but her results of the late Summer are not as good as the previous. I would have wanted her to win the title. She also lost in QF of an ITF this week. Hope it won't last.

On the other side, Babet is surprising me ! After a horrible start this year, she has done very well lately, one final in an U16 event, a QF in an ITF and now the title. Very good to know :yeah:.

Victoria is still on a worrying form, she has not won a match since March :tape: . Cindy & her must have been injured during the Summer though since they withdrew from all the tournaments they entered.

I hope Cindy is in a good shape, she was impressive in the last Wimbledon, it would be nice to have her going deep in the draw now that Alizé no longer plays the juniors. She faces Buchina, a Russian who won les Petits As few years ago. Cindy has already defeated her in three sets on clay earlier in the year.

Great tournament for Nathalie in le Touquet, she defeated her first top 200 girl. Sadly, it's not official & we don't know the scoreline. She lost today sadly against Petra Cetkovska but only 75 61. :D I am really proud of her! Things are going in a great way!

Good luck in the AO girls :bounce:!!!

Victoria at least can win a match here. :)

Cindy is seeded in a Grand Slam for the first time!! :yeah: Still, she has been given a very tough draw. Mirkovic is a potential threat to her, but I can't see Cindy losing if she is not injured of course. Then she has an easy match against Bogdan or Yang. The real test would be in R3 if she plays against Yi-Miao Zhou, a dangerous Chinese girl who is pretty close in top 300 in the WTA rankings. In QF, she would face Ksenia Lykina, who defeated her in the final of Beaulieu-sur-Mer.

Well you see, it's not easy ... but it's a Grand Slam ;) Cmon Cindy!!!!

Against all odds Cindy lost : not solid enough on serve, she was in trouble each time Marija was leading in the set. This is really disappointing because she had a high seeding & she showed that she can't compete when better players are in the field. Too bad Cindy!

Victoria won her match, but I really thought she would miss the opportunity, she led 63 52 and became very nervous at the ending of the match. All the games were tight, but she couldn't have a MP. She regrouped then & got to the 2nd round for the 1st time since March. Bravo Vic!

I don't update the thread because there isn't anything to say about them! All the 1991 girls keep on losing early in ITF tournaments. The only good results come from juniors. Irina went to QF in Luxembourg last week & now it's Cindy's turn! :bounce:

Cindy has just reached QF in Banana Bowl (G1) beating Anna Brazhnikova in straight sets :yeah:. She is now the favourite to take the title. Allez Cindy, let's enter top 10 please!

This week, 1991 girls are very present especially in Amiens where Gracia, Charlotte, Camille, Nathalie & Victoria are playing! Charlotte defeated Gracia 76 61 in 1st round & will face Nathalie who finally got her first victory of the year over Gabriela Polito (574th) 64 62! It was about time! Clay is definitely her surface! I hope she goes as far as possible!

Cindy is defending her title in the Copa Gerdau & she began pretty well with a 62 61 win over Brazhnikova. Much better than last week!

Good luck girls, take the titles!
